I would vote for the '52 set. Mid grades are hard to find well centered but it would be a beautiful sight to see complete. Good luck with which ever wins. Doug
The '52 Topps Set was an easy vote for me. It was the 1st and only set I ever owned while growing up in the '50s. I think the entire set cost me less than $2 to put together... LOL!
Though the '56 Set would be a close 2nd, the '52 just has a more sentimental and nostalgic feeling to it for me. You know you're getting old when you can say that you actually watched the players of the '52 Set play .... in person.
I won't be taking part in your wonderful contest, as I believe the younger guys of the boards deserve and would cherish your prize more than I, but thank you so much for your unprecedented generosity.
I will certainly enjoy watching your set come alive, whichever one you choose, with each and every card that is posted.

P.S. Another consideration, is pricing: 1963 PSA 8s are affordable! I plucked a few scans from different 1963 Topps Registry Sets. (To help you "wet your whistle"!)

Since you already have the '55 set, I would rule out the '56 set. They are close in style. I like both but found the '56 cards to be too busy. I ended up building a '55 set and adding the '56 HOF and stars (e.g., Mantle) that were not in the '55 set to make a "master" set.
The '67 set reminds me of the '57 set which you already are working on. Both are classics. However, I like working on sets that are different from each other.
I never liked the '59 set because of the image quality. Some of the cards are classics. However, as a whole, the set does not do it for me.
The'63 set is nice. However, the little picture is distracting. I gravitate to cards with an uncluttered design.
This leaves the '52 set. The set is a classic. The high numbers will be a challenge. You can go for a master set and collect both red and black backs for #1-80. If you are centering and tilt nut, the set will be even more difficult. I have been working on this set for the past 5 years and it is a lot of fun. The cards are not hard to find (unless you only want centered and non-tilted examples).
Since you already have a Mantle I voted for 1952. A main reason i voted for the 52 set (besides the Mantle) is that set will always go up. Besides being a challenge it will also serve as a decent investment.
Had you decided on a 60's set you may have been able to create a high grade set but would probably only get your money back when and if you ever sold.
The 1952 set is a classic set.
I would set my sights a tad lower and also accept nicely centered PSA 4's

Its been a while since I have posted but I had to check in for this thread. Naturally my call is the 1952 topps set since I have built 3 of them in the past couple years. A set in psa 5 ,6 and 7 is a really nice set. Best of luck with it Felicia.
I voted for the 59's, but my second choice would be the 63's. And my third choice would be none because you're making me extremely jealous and now I hate myself and my current lack of collecting budget. Screw being cool; build a 1991 Topps set please!!! Haha, just kidding.

You guys have never seen me attack a set...
I assure you it wont take long..I think we can get at least 90% done within a year.
We have auction houses, dealers, ebay, board members...we can do this...and keep the attention of the adder's..
