Considering your handle (mass_screw), it's amazing you only have 1 neg. image

Sorry for the big percentage drop due to this one $mall transaction. You'll likely bump it back up quickly.

You guys are so right about the cheap stuff bringing out the nut jobs. I was selling dozens of < $10 stuff to build my feedback a while back and got more grief than I could have imagined.

Sorry to hear about the bad experience.
Don't really know what the point of selling something, that, after fees and shipping will leave you almost sucked dry.
I think he is just another loose fingered noobie, of ebay, and of coin collecting.
Well I guess I cannot say much more, I think you just have to live with it, put it behind you, and move on. image

    E-Bay is still screwed up.

Buyers can pay late, take theri sweet time and as a seller you have to pander to them. Where is the buyer rating for sellers...pays on time, no hassle communication etc etc.

I have a buyer who hasn't paid in 14 days. Called him he said he's sorry but doesn't own a computer. (He goes to an internet cafe ro bid) I'm afraid to file a NPB because of retailiation, but I have no recourse.

My experiment to sell more on E-Bay has only confirmed that it's not worth it.

It all depends on what you are selling and the timing thereof. Right now is a traditional slow period for ebay and it will stay that way for another month or 2 until after school starts and the pre-holiday buildup kicks in again. Most of the buyers right now are looking for rips; therefore, we aren't putting up any good stuff until later. But... regardless of the season, if you are trying to do this as a business, it's a waste of time selling really cheap stuff on ebay, unless you are just looking to build feedback (and either break even or more likely lose a buck doing so). jmhoimage

ive said it before and here it is again. if you were giving things away, and paying the shipping, one out of 500 people will beatch about something. just the way it is. i have a negative because a frootloop wanted me to send his item to an address other than what is on his paypal acct, so i told him to add that address on his paypal and i will be glad to. well, he never did. so "i sent it to the wrong address"

It didn't used to be, and it's a shame it's come to this. There are LOTS of people looking for inexpensive coins for their collections since not everybody is putting together world-class type sets. As an example, I'm currently working on a set including one coin from every country which made coins the year I was born. I have about 75% of them- the only ones I need are the ones that catalog for less than a couple of bucks. At one time, eBay was a great place to find this kind of material, but not anymore since eBay now appears to be on a mission to rid the site of low value (but not necessarily low interest) items.

Just for the sake of playing devil's advocate here, are you sure you didn't bring that upon yourself, at least to some extent? As long as you got paid, what difference does it make where the buyer wants you to ship? If it were me, I'd be more than happy to oblige... no need to inconvenience the buyer to add the address to his PayPal. I'd just slap a label on it and send it out... no big deal.

But as I understand it, you went ahead and shipped the item to the address he specifically asked you NOT to send it to anyway. That's just asking for trouble, IMHO. Perhaps there was a legitimate reason why the buyer did not want to supply PayPal with his alternate address. But again, why should it matter? It sounds to me like you were just being stubborn.

paypal requires the seller to ship the item to the address that the buyer has on file with them. or the seller is NOT covered if the item gets lost, or the buyer says he never received it. i explained this to the buyer, or at least i thought i did, i (very politely) asked him to add the address that he wanted it shipped to and i would be more than happy to send it there. was too much trouble for the buyer.

I got negged last year on an item that went missing over the week the auction was held.On the day of the sale i discovered it gone and alerted the buyer to not pay until it turned up.Next day it was obvious it wasnt here so i told the buyer i was sorry and embarresed to say it had went missing.I got negged anyway.
That was just one neg a year ago , ive had over 300 positive transactions since and im only now back to 100% , it took a full year.I had only went down to 98% so dear only knows how long it takes to get back from 94%.
Id tread lightly though until that page clears with the abusive comments, one thing ive noticed is negs attract negs , its like people feel comfortable negging somebody who already has one or more.

While i think the neg was harsh as you had offered to refund , you left yourself wide open for a neg sending something misrepresented.Newbies dont have a problem dishing out negs. Now when i feel somebody deserves a neg i just dont leave any feedback at all, having seen the devestation one neg can do.

"don't understand how 1 neg. in 322 transactions lowered your rating to 94.4
Shouldn't it be more like 99.4 ?????(1 neg. out of 100 should leave a 99% positive!)"

    From Ebay:

The positive Feedback percentage is calculated based on the total number of positive and negative Feedback ratings for transactions that ended in the last 12 months, excluding repeat Feedback from the same member in the same week.

Note: This could mean that the number of ratings used for this calculation is different from the same number shown in the Recent Ratings table on the left.

    Positives
    Positives + Negatives

This member's 12 Month Feedback ratings
    Positives: 19Negatives: 1

    This member's Positive Feedback percentage

    19
    19 + 1
    = 95.0%

"it's a waste of time selling really cheap stuff on ebay "

i tend to agree. I havent sold a coin on Ebay in over a year, most of my card transactions i complete on the BST and on the SGC boards.

The stuff i sell on Ebay now is surplus medical equipment and supplies and i have been fortunate to direct 60% of those folks off ebay and buy direct.

The clowns at Ebay have ruined it for the small sellers and made the experience far less enjoyable these days.

Wrong. It is a big deal, because PP requires that you ship to the confirmed address, otherwise you aren't covered by the seller protection policy. The guy can claim he never got it and if you can't show proof of delivery to their listed and confirmed address, you lose the item and your money. It's not about being stubborn; it's about saving yourself from getting ripped off. And unfortunately it happens a lot.
