Your input please. *Results Posted*

Please take a few seconds to answer these 10 quick questons. This is the first of two surveys (possibly more to come) that is being used to compile information about how we coin collectors feel about the TPG's. The information may possibly be shared with one or more of the third party grading services to help bring about improvements in the current grading trends. Thank you for your input.

last choice would seem to imply that CAC also confirms coins to be NT when they bean a rainbow toned coin.......I don't think that's true.....aren't they just beaning the grade not the color?..........would they refuse to bean a PQ (grade-wise) toned coin that they believed to be AT?...........
.........or am I reading your question wrong?

10. If you have any questions or concerns that you could share with any of the TPG's, what would they be?
1. The consistency of BB'ing dings and scratches is a bit suspect
2. Every TPG needs and online database with clear color photos to combat the ever increasing counterfeit problem.
3. * Inconsistency is the biggest issue even with PCGS (from submission to submission and from year to year).
* It's rather well accepted by many, including dealers, that CAC has motivated some TPGs to tighten their grading. This is unfair to those who might want to submit in this period -- they are building their reputation on our backs and our bank accounts.
* NGC is now rejecting many coins for "staining" yet there are many nice NGC and PCGS coins that have spots that would probably be considered "stains." Very inconsistent and confusing.
* PCGS seems to place way too much weight on luster in some series.
4. less complex way to submit coins. seems too 'busy' of a form to complete.
5. consistency is the biggest concern, second biggest concern is that the TPG's don't use of post their grading sets
6. I would like to see PCGS holder non-genuine coins and label them as such on the holder.
7. PCGS - Why are you putting good coins in Genuine holders?
8. Issue more "net" gradings.
9. Stop erring on the side of caution so much. Stop trying to look good in the eyes of CAC by bagging so many coins.
10. Most TPG's are too lenient when it comes to SLQ's FHs. Yes, even PCGS will grant a FH when it doesn't deserve one. Look at all of the 1927-S's out there - there is not one true FH in the bunch... a few "almost FH's" ... but if you're going to grade consistantly, then do so by making all the type Two & Three SLQs subject to the same grading standards. As far as I'm concerned, NGC is the worst / most lenient grader of FH SLQs.
11. Please be more consistent...
12. ...
13. tpg need one uniform grading
14. All slabbing companies should stop using both slabs and numerical grading.
15. PCGS' variety attribution cost of $24 is absurd times two.
NGC and ANACS holder too many cleaned coins.
ANACS is far too liberal on PL and DMPL Morgans.
16. Don't go overboard bagging nicely toned coins at AT.
17. When a coin is bodybagged give the collector more details to why.
18. Regarding #9, I don't believe that CAC verifies that a rainbow toned coin is indeed, NT. When they CAC a rainbow toned coin, they're just attesting to the grade, not the color.
19. Counterfeit slabs are a growing problem and so far the industry response seems ineffective.
20. Key dates should not receive leniency in regards to cleanings or technical grade.
21. PCGS-Why don't you designate PL in other MS series besides $1's, like other TPG's.
PCGS-NGS-Why have you dropped some very important and obvious rare varieties such as 1893/2 Proof Barber Dime. 5 or 6 of these clearly exist as I have seen 2 of them. Not significant? Hardly. There are other examples as well.
22. Have you also posted this survey on the NGC message board. If not, the answers here will surely be one sided and not a completely accurate survey deeming it worthless.
23. TPG's need to band together to go after the fake coins and slabs coming out of Asia.
24. None
25. NGC is bit too liberal with MS70s
26. That NGC is the only one to grade GSA's in the hardpack.
27. A little more specificity when coins are rejected
28. I'm concerned that NGC & PCGS are not grading so many naturally toned coins, simply because they can. They get paid, and then again if you send it back. If they really are unsure of the toning, we should not pay (after all we are paying for the assurance of an expert's opinion). It's unfair to charge with so many coins not grading and the high submission costs.
29. I'm concerned with the lack of consistency or rather, the 'back and forth' grading standards that have taken place over the years.
30. Why are your fees so high?
31. Cheaper prices for submissions for individuals.
32. CAC have a place with some people, But are really not much of anything
33. Don't have any.
34. submission costs are too high
35. Try honesty when you grade the first time, and stop the BS on resubmissions-
36. Need to do much more to fight counterfeiting of their holders. Have to develop a more secure product if their services are to continue to have any value.
37. Why are coins that used to be graded PR69DCAM now coming back as PR67CAM on average??
