Folks, thats the design of the coin. Nothing more and nothing less. They are most visible on Proofs for obvious reasons but can also be clearly seen on well struck Business Strike coins as well.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
What would be the fair market value of both coins? >>
The Accented Hair could go anywhere from $20 to $100 depending upon grade and attribution. From the photo, it doesn't appear to be a CAM or DCAM so the grade will be limited.
The Lincoln, again, could go anywhere from $40 to $300 depending upon grade.
I wouldn't call this a rip as much as a fairly decent Cherry Pick and there are few things in this world that compare with the excitment of finding a popular variety coin yet not having to pay popular variety prices.
