Well, a few days later (after requesting my address), AJW had sent me a full set at NO CHARGE. I was so grateful that I immediately put $60 worth of silver bullion into an envelope and sent it his way as a show of gratitude. That was 60 REAL dollars that I could have used to bail out idiots like the ebay seller in our above discussion. AJW didnt request anything, I wasnt under any "obligation". I did it cuz it was the right thing to do. Real cheapskate move, huh? >>

Let me understand this. Because someone did you a favor and was kind to you, you made an effort to do right by them AFTER their unsolicited gesture was made. But now that someone needs a favor for an honest mistake, you want to be compensated IN ADVANCE...BEFORE you are willing to do ANYTHING and if they don't act quick enough you will detroy the merchandise?

Others have offered to forward you the payment(s) necessary for you to forward the card to the rightful owner and/or suggested how you can return it to the seller at no cost. YOU have insisted that YOU need MORE to cover YOUR time and energy. You have also stated that you will destroy an item that is not yours and that you have no entitlement to.

You are truly a ONE-WAY Street!!!

Sending AJW $60 doesn't make you a great guy. Coming on these boards and trying to convince us that you're right isn't going to work.

You go on selling your coins and buying your cards, thanks to nam812, I've made certain to block metalman109 from bidding in my auctions in the event that I actually listed something that you might have interest in.

SUGGESTION: Instead of being a complete azz about this, just black out your address, write RETURN TO SENDER on the front and drop it in ANY postal mailbox. It won't cost you a dime, you won't have to go out of your way and you'll have done the right thing. Or is that too much to ask? Do you need money for the ink and the time that you've stopped to walk to the mailbox?
  • It appears you are trying to tell us you are poor and can't afford the $3.00 shipping, looking at your shipping rates I call that total BS. With the profit you are making on the coins, return the card to the rightful owner at you expense and quit your crying. Ive also added metalman109 to my BBL list.image

That's funny. You didn't mention gas money and handling time when you cry babied about a $3 shipping & handling charge that you agreed to when you purchased the item.

I was thinking the same exact thing..

here is the deal.. ok.. you don't want to pay for his shipping.. not a big deal.. but $3 is different to some people..
it is like the guy in the grocery store fighting over $1.50 in line on a $100 bill. I will give you the $1.50 just to
go away so I can buy my $.50 pack of gum.

anyway.. so the guy doesn't respond.. just relax.. if he doesn't pay then you got a free $10 card by your own admission.
worst case is sell it on ebay.. sounds like you will come out ahead on the whole deal.
if it takes him 2 weeks to give you the 3 bucks.. who cares.. you are still out nothing.
don't sweat the small stuff.. hopefully you have a job and a healthy family and it stays that way. There are bigger problems you
could have then waiting for $3

if you don't hear from him by sunday... I will send you $3 in an envelope with a bubble mailer to forward to the buyer or send back to the seller
that is a real offer.. just pm me... this isn't about you it is about the other buyer who bought the card for a reason
and you never know what that reason is... could be very special to him/ her.

The poster doesn't care, he just wants paid for the return postage, he's just to cheap to pay himself.

<< <i>Told him I have some spring cleaning to do, and would like to get the card out of here ASAP or in the trash it goes. >>

OK that's reasonable... coming from a courtious, honest, kind, prompt... did I miss anything??? Oh ya, jackass.

<< <i>Not responding is "balking". Where is my story changing at all? >>

Making things up in your head can lead to the wrong conclusions.

<< <i>This guy has decided he just doesnt give a crap about whether or not his merchandise goes to the correct customer. So I offer to help him re-route the merchandise, and he ignores me. Now Im the rude jackass. >>

Yes. Especially when you make up a scenario that justifies your actions.

<< <i>Will you "paypal" me a manilla envelope also? Will you "paypal" me gas money for the drive to the post office? Will you "paypal" me the 30 minutes back of the time im going to waste for someone else's mistake?

    << <i>

Now we're back to jackass again.

<< <i> Hey guy....I was honest and prompt with the seller who made the mistake. Then I was polite and courteous in offering to help him correct his mistake. So please forgive me for expecting the seller to promptly work with me in correcting HIS mistake. >>

Please remeber the seller isn't responsible for whatever's eating you.
  • I'll paypal the .10 for the bubble mailer.

MTcards made a very good point a few posts back.
"The OP complains about "overcharging" on shipping a few posts back, then goes into the EXACT reason why shipping IS $3...what am I talking about, this thread is the stupidest thread of the week."

The OP's complaint was, "He charged me $3.00 for $1.15 postage and a #000 envelope!"

I think it's safe to assume that $1.15 postage was on the other envelope containing a single $10 card too. So the OP would know that closing the envelope up and readdressing the package was going to cost him $1.15 to send back to either the seller or the correct buyer. So the OP rounded the $1.15 known charge to return up to a nice even $3.00 to cover his time and trouble. He added exactly what the seller added but the seller added the $1.85 to help pay for the expenses of selling and shipping the card, but the OP added $1.85 just as an opportunity to make money off the seller's mistake. $1.50 would cover the $1.15 postage, 30 cent Paypal transaction, and a few percent Paypal charge. Maybe bill the seller $1.51 or $1.52 just to be on the safe side. The Paypal fees could also be avoided by issuing you a partial refund on the payment you made to him. You're made whole and the mistake cost the seller $1.15. Maybe if you didn't try jacking him for $3 he may have refunded you the whole $3 that you paid to have your card shipped after you let him know the card was back in the mail headed to the correct buyer. That would be a well earned reward for a good deed.

What the OP tried to do was very much like finding a wallet and demanding a reward for the safe return. He asked for his $1.85 reward in advance to return the item to the rightful owner. Rather than forwarding the card and letting the seller know, and then wait for his reward, he told the seller up front that he needed $3 to do what's right.

Its about taking responsibility for your screw-ups. This guy has decided he just doesnt give a crap about whether or not his merchandise goes to the correct customer.

Gecko you don't know that at all.

That is a major leap on your end.

I just found out the seller is a member of this forum and he said it was worth the 10.00
to see you act like an ass. The buyer has already been compensated.

Gecko--your best move is to man up and admit your mistakes instead of getting more defensive. You act like this seller is some COMPLETE MORON for accidentally sending you an extra card (and by the way he did send you your card...).

At some point, you will make a mistake as a seller and maybe even be away from your computer for a few days. In this case, you will appreciate someone that cuts you some slack and says "no problem mistakes happen" and not some guy that says "I"VE BEEN STORING THE CARD FOR YOU FOR TWO DAMN DAYS WHERE'S MY FRIGGIN $3 ARRGGH!!!!"

In short, while this situation may be an inconvenience to you, and while you may have a case to be slightly annoyed by his "slow" payment, your reaction was not justified. Furthermore, this seller may have decided to cut off communication (and payment) from you after your diatribes/rants and so your poor actions actually led to the lack of payment in the first place--the supposed main "gripe" you claim to be the source of your anger with this seller.

Can we work on getting the seller, and the buyer who is waiting on the cards being held hostage by gecko, to join the forum and voice their side to all this? image

    1. Send the card to the correct buyer at your cost.

    2. Add a few of your own. You clearly do not deserve them.

    3. Do not tell anyone about your good deed.

    4. Drop the chalupa.

    5. Quit the hobby immediately.

This thread has got me thinking. I was at Taco Bell the other day. I don't go there very much, but when I do, I typically get the #1, (burrito supreme/taco supreme). I always ask for a soft taco instead of crunchy, and ask them to substitute the green sauce for the red. For the first time it dawned on me that the price of the meal plus the applicable tax did not equal the total of the bill, which was off by about 10 cents. I asked what the extra dime was all about and the cashier tells me that TB charges an extra dime for green sauce. "Huh?" says I. "That's not anywhere on the menu." The gal shrugs and I shuffle off, bewildered.

So here's my question. Should I go back and dress down the manager for this gross ripoff? Or should I rest on the largesse of the fine folks of this fine board? I'm thinking the latter. You all need to PP me a dime, which should help make up for all the times I've been unwittingly screwed by TB. Throw in a little gas money while you're at it, too.
  • When will you be sending me my 20 dollar fee for giving my opinion. THIS IS YOUR 2ND NOTICE. Dont forget to add on gas expenses, electricity fees, and a new set of Dr Sholes insert, so I can walk to the mailbox in comfort.
    Are you gellin?

The red T-Bell sauce will restore Pennies to their original condition. At least, that was the rumor in high school. For me, its all about the nachos bel grande and chalupas. We used to have a Taco Tico in town, and then T-Bell took over. Many a high school off campus lunch was spent there, courtesy of my 77 Malibu.
