Maybe old news, but a friend dropped off 5 sets tonight dated 4/27 that her sister bought thinking she'd make the same profit the Birthplace sets brought. When it didn't happen she decided to simply get rid of them at face value, 9.95 a set. So I bought them.
Every one of her P rolls littered with errors 1 through 5.
Then opened 3 of 5 rolls dated 4/17which I bought from the Mint, not so good, but found 9 WDDR-002's, & a number of WDDR-003's.
Starting to go through 25 boxes...Opened 2 (5/06 & 4/21) and NADA! Got some impressive die cracks though. A box from 4/30 had a WDDR-002 on the end of the roll so I left the roll intact after seeing the price of a similar roll on The Bay getting near $500 with 8 hours to go.
Finally worked up the courage to open one of my five boxes from 4/27/09...13:41.
Totals for the Philly roll ( eyes are too tired to tackle the Denver roll tonight): 1 WDDO 001 1 WDDR 001 11 WDDR 002 10 WDDR 003 5 reverse die chip 3 with something going on under chin. ( sending to John Wexler) Many thanks to Doubleddie.com for the great attribution pictures. HM
I guess I have been extremely lucky... I bought 10 sets (5 sets dated 4.15 and 5 sets dated 4.29) I randomly grabbed one set dated 4/29 and cracked open the Philly roll. I found roughly 30 DDRs in the roll..... and I say roughly because I ended up holding a Lincoln giveaway on another forum and most of the members responded that they had indeed received either the DDR001 or DDR002. I was left with about 15 of the DDR of which it was pretty even spit down the middle. So out of the 30 or so DDR found, I would guestimate that half were the DDR001 and the other half were the DDR002. Sorry for not having more concrete numbers. This is why I am tempted to crack open another philly roll out of that box just to see what I get.

I'm with you on that! The sweet spot is 4/27. Let us know how that pans out.

This one looks like it should have the odd C of CENT like this:
Sorry for the double post but we should have just one thread for this variety....would make it much easier to keep up with things..
My findings so far:
4/21 ZERO (but some very nice die cracks) 4/29 ZERO (shocked) 4/28 9 all 001 + die cracks 4/30 29 mixed 001/002 4/30 001 seen on end of roll so kept roll intact 5/01 ZERO 5/06 ZERO Opening more today!!!
I will say...This IS fun and well worth the small investment. Still wondering how many intact rolls will be left when the searching is done???

Cracked second roll... here are the results: 5 DDR001 7 DDR002 5 DDR003 10 Die Gouges/marks under chin 20 with die chip on book, on reverse
<< <i>Edited to add a better picture. There is something going north from the tip of the thumb. Has anyone seen this before? >>
I believe I have.......is it a 'ding' in the book? I found several dinged covers in a roll that produced 11 errors. I kept them just in case they became an error.
I found this in my 1 of my boxes dated 4/16/09 also a few others errors that I need to get photos of,I just seen another member has this same type?I also found 2 with "something going on under the chin' more photos ASAP but lets see some more erors from everyone, MOJO
That is why I feel we got most of the good coins for ourselves. If there are no more in the batches being sent out by the mint, we should have a firm grip on the market. I have not even started to go through most of mine for anything other than 001 and 002. Just got my dino light working. It is great but it needs to have solid base to work with as that stand that it comes with sucks.
For whats its worth info. I have 5 sets dated 05/06/09 8:25 and did not think I had any error rolls. but opened one last week and got one partical extra thumb but it did not look like the others? Went to John Wexlers web site and saw this; wddr-008 Description: "A partial extra thumb can be seen just under the normal thumb." Just opened another roll and found 9 more. No big deal but lots of fun.

You wish you had AbeMax.
thanks
one can read through this thread but please know...i keep updating the opening post
yes someone reported finds in boxes dated 05........05/06
Hoard the keys.
That is a WDDR-008.........it is in this weeks Coinworld....I got the credit for submitting that one to James Wexler.
Can you see these errors with a 10x or do you need a microscope?
A 10X is plenty........
Thats what I used.
To tell you the truth, I have pretty sharp eyes and can see the DDR-001 and DDR-002 with my bare eyes.

Edited to add:
my bad, it is already there but now you know what DDR was found in at least one roll.......

Produced 5 WDDR-001
14 WDDR-002
More 4-27 dated boxes on the way, I'll let you know.
