1: Whats your favorite aspect of numismatics?
2: Whats an area of numismatics that drives you nuts?
For me, I love the hunt. The hunt and chase of a perticular coin really gets my blood flowin.
And, I really dont like that everything is opinion based. It makes things hard, but I fully understand why they are opinion based.

1. The social aspect. I have amassed many more treasured friends over the years than I have treasured coins.
2. The marked tendancy over the past 15 to 20 years to make coin collecting all about "What can I sell it for?" rather than "WOW! Cool coin!"

I have to agree.
I've learned over the years to turn the other cheek when snobbery is involved.

Favorite Aspects:
1. I've refocused my collecting in recent years to Morgan VAMs, so for me the favorite aspect is the thrill of the hunt.
2. Another favorite aspect is the comraderie and friendships that have developed with fellow VAMmers.
3. Seasoned collectors who will give freely of their time, knowledge and experience to teach new collectors
As for what drives me nuts...
1. Coin snobs (as mentioned above). Those collectors who think they are better than everyone else and look down noses at new collectors coming up.
2. Dealers who don't want to learn, but would rather not sell to a "cherry-picker", even if he would have received the price he put on the coin...
3. Dealers who use the good graces of collectors to benefit financially. What does that mean? Case in point: I call them drivebys...they come to VAMWorld and ask for and receive free attribution from members, then sell the coin using that attribution to get better returns. I have no problem with sellers who actually contribute back to the forum, who learn how to attribute, then try to contribute by helping others the way they were helped...that's fine by me. Its the ones who come in, get help, then don't "give back" or bother to try to learn how to do it themselves.
4. The focus on profit rather than on history and the joy of the hobby.
2.The schlock coins that have been colorized or overlaid with adhesive images that some companies sell to the unsuspecting public.

2. putting up with stupid banner ads on MY computer...(when i don't have to)...or be banned to the gas chamber for non-compliance.

Agree on both counts, OKbustchaser!
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

1: I agree with you on this one... but I'm into "particular" coins... don't know about those "perticular" ones...
2: As for this one...I am in agreement with you but will turn the page a bit... yes, it is opinion based... most things in life are... yet it is the KOOL AID DRINKERS that drive me nuts
"it has to be in a holder or there is something wrong with it...but it has to be in the right holder...but you have to look at the coin because the holder label is not always right...I need it in a holder to be sure it is problem-free...but there are problem coins in holders so I need to get a sticker on it...but the CAC isn't always right...but but but..."

- Tying the items in my collection to the study of history and economics.
- Beautiful coins, medals and tokens regardless of the grade. I like pieces with eye appeal.

- Outfits like CAC that are out to force me to use their services to maintain the value of my collection after I've spent good money getting it graded.
- Too many new U.S. coins that make no sense whatsoever. Examples - First Spouse, presidential dollars, some commeoratives.
- Speculators who don't care about the hobby who force up prices in hopes of making a killing. Quite often they lose their shirts, but their activities still often hurt collectors.
- Obsession with points on the registries.
- Crooked dealers who ruin the hobby for new collectors by cheating them.
