Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
I look almost everyday for a rare variety but after all these years I either pay full price or don't find it.

Jus out of curiosity, how big of a difference between price paid and price realized (or worth) does it have to be before "you suck"?

p.s. Rick Snow currently has a very similar coin on his website, and I swear it is the exact same coin I sold all those years ago - so of course I had to buy it for my own set! Here is a photo.

Edited to add: Oh yeah - Mike YOU SUCK, too!
Yard sale, $15 (The same one Russ used/uses -- he paid something like $89 for his)
Yard sale, $35 (Sports forum)
Sadly, neither of them are coin related, and none of them were really any home runs
<< <i>In that case, Shag & Charmy - YOU BOTH SUCK!!!!
So do I get to add "1 Duane YOU SUCK award" to my forum signature line now????

<< <i>I just earned the coveted award today for cherrypicking *two* raw 1955 Bugs Bunny Franklins in the same week. One is MS65 and the other AU55. Congratulations on your anniversary, as well! >>
How could you possibly get a You Suck for a 1955 Bugs Bunny Franky? Even at MS65FBL its not much if a coin.
Also, paying $15 for an $89 Camera isn't even close to a You Suck. A great deal but definitely not a You Suck.

the first one shows all red x's I'd have to find the pics etc., etc., now that sucks, quite different from a you suck
Herb
Evidently, the coin is meaningful if you collect them. And with a MS65FBL grade, the pop is something close to 16/2. And for $30.... And to cherry pick 2 in a week.....
But I think there is a little history here, as well, for me and robec (collector of Frankies and MPLs among other things). I recently bought a 1916 matte proof Lincoln (PCGS PR64RB) for $1,600 (PCGS book guide $7K +) because of a bad catalog photo. It's closer to a 66RB (a $20,000 coin) in hand. And a few deals I would not even dare talk about in public. So I suck on multiple levels and over a period of time, and not just limited to one instance.
What's your definition of a "You Suck", Lee?
You Sucks are very coveted here. You do not give out 3 in one thread.......Let a person who has been here and knows the rules give them out, thats the normal route

LOL. Only if you add the Duane disclaimer and a wink to it
Your approach is totally fair and respected - what are the rules? I was obviously being goofy, but someone gave me a "You Suck" award this weekend for what he thought to be a winner of a cherry pick, and it than becomes questioned by another member. Is that the typical protocol to one of these awards?
Sincerely,
Duane
<< <i>I am sure you paid Rick a non You Suck price for that. >>
Yep! Sure did! But well worth it to have this sweet coin (back)!

Duane, I am actually not sure. I have seen you sucks overruled by the higher ups.....it really does take a big one to get it. hang out and watch for a year, lol, thats what I did, and was very lucky to be on ebay at the right time in the right catagory....poor seller pics, it was a perfect storm. $200 turned into few K really fast.
I bought it at a local show for $12. I chewed the dealer down from $12.75. LOL Graded PCGS PR65BN.

Being a "Meaningful" coin has little to do with sucking as its all about the end value of what you picked up for next to nothing.
<< <i>What's your definition of a "You Suck", Lee? >>
Its not really my definition but a board tradition which was started long ago.
You Suck territory is something which is purchased or cherried for a raw price and then graded or sold for hundreds or thousands more. Here's a perfect You Suck! Purchased in a 2x2, submitted to Teletrade for grading and auctioning, net = $14,000
No doubt its exciting to come across a Bugs Bunny when you are into Franklins and I'm glad for you, I just think the "you suck" is a bit premature since the grade is a grade that YOU assigned (not even any pictures) and not a professional grading service. Get it graded then come back for your award.

I have made a few good buys, such as an AG3 1867 IHC for $1, and a VF 1887 IHC for $.01
Lee - The "YOU SUCK" toned Quarter example that you use was purchased for a PCGS price guide $11,500 and sold for $14,000? Is that right?

No, he paid $8 for the coin in a cardboard 2x2 (check page 5 of the linked thread), submitted it to PCGS through Teletrade, and sold it for $14,000.

<< <i> We bought some junk silver from a guy a few months back, and finally got around to going through it a few weeks ago. Strangely enough we spotted a very nice 1937 quarter in the pile, and upon closer examination we determined that it was worth sending in to PCGS. We just got the submission back from PCGS today, and here it is:
.
We ended up selling the coin for $2,000.
