I never associated a date with this one. Pulled this from an original proof set for which I did not pay any premium - graded PR67dcam - a very tough date for dcams.
Also found this one in an unopened proof set, purchased around ask. PR66 Doubled die reverse.

Mine has to be the 1833 LM-5 Capped Bust Half Dime I picked off eBay a few weeks ago for $260. It is the 5th one known and the 3rd finest. Worth many, many thousands of dollars.
I used to be somebody, now I'm just a coin collector. Recipient of the coveted "You Suck" award, April 2009 for cherrypicking a 1833 CBHD LM-5, and April 2022 for a 1835 LM-12, and again in Aug 2012 for picking off a 1952 FS-902.
These are the closest I've come, though I was told on good authority that the profits were not quite obscene enough to truly qualify. These were both purchased raw and unattributed on eBay for no premium, the top coin in December and the bottom coin in late March:

I just earned the coveted award today for cherrypicking *two* raw 1955 Bugs Bunny Franklins in the same week. One is MS65 and the other AU55. Congratulations on your anniversary, as well!
<< <i>I hear ya - me either. But even the modest ones are fun
And as your attorney, Mike, I advise you to brag away >>
I'd imagine that buying a PCGS graded modern on a Sunday afternoon for $80 and selling it two days later on Tuesday for just over $2000 may qualify for the award
I have not received this award but I do like the coins people have that receive this award. Twosides2acoin did try to nominate me for my DDR finds but I don't think it stuck.
If any of you have read "my story" on my website of how I got started in the coin business, you'll recognize this part of that story. When I first started collecting/buying/selling Indian cents, I won an unc raw 1873 Cl. 3 Indian cent off Ebay for $110. It was a beautiful coin, probably MS64 RB. Right after the auction ended, I received an email from another Ebayer offering to buy it for an extra $100. I told him I would have to wait until I had the coin in hand to see it for myself before I would sell it. That email made me suspicious, so I decided to take a good close look at the coin when I got it to see why this guy wanted it so badly. So as soon as the coin arrived, I pulled out my Flynn variety book and compared this coin to all the 1873 varieties, and, yes, I'm sure you guessed it, it was the double die variety - unfortunately not the type 1, but almost as good - it was the second variety with most of the letters in Liberty strongly doubled. Of course I hooted and yelped and was so excited that my family wondered what was going on. I can sincerely say that that was the moment my husband and kids finally understood the true value of a penny! Any way, I ended up taking this coin to the Long Beach show and selling it raw for $2,000. Though this happened a while ago, that is my best "you suck" story.
p.s. Rick Snow currently has a very similar coin on his website, and I swear it is the exact same coin I sold all those years ago - so of course I had to buy it for my own set! Here is a photo.

How could you possibly get a You Suck for a 1955 Bugs Bunny Franky? Even at MS65FBL its not much if a coin.
Also, paying $15 for an $89 Camera isn't even close to a You Suck. A great deal but definitely not a You Suck.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.
""How could you possibly get a You Suck for a 1955 Bugs Bunny Franky? Even at MS65FBL its not much if a coin""
Evidently, the coin is meaningful if you collect them. And with a MS65FBL grade, the pop is something close to 16/2. And for $30.... And to cherry pick 2 in a week.....
But I think there is a little history here, as well, for me and robec (collector of Frankies and MPLs among other things). I recently bought a 1916 matte proof Lincoln (PCGS PR64RB) for $1,600 (PCGS book guide $7K +) because of a bad catalog photo. It's closer to a 66RB (a $20,000 coin) in hand. And a few deals I would not even dare talk about in public. So I suck on multiple levels and over a period of time, and not just limited to one instance.
Duane You Sucks are very coveted here. You do not give out 3 in one thread.......Let a person who has been here and knows the rules give them out, thats the normal route
<< <i>In that case, Shag & Charmy - YOU BOTH SUCK!!!! >>
So do I get to add "1 Duane YOU SUCK award" to my forum signature line now???? >>
LOL. Only if you add the Duane disclaimer and a wink to it I am sure you paid Rick a non You Suck price for that. Still, a very nice coin and even better story
Your approach is totally fair and respected - what are the rules? I was obviously being goofy, but someone gave me a "You Suck" award this weekend for what he thought to be a winner of a cherry pick, and it than becomes questioned by another member. Is that the typical protocol to one of these awards?

Duane, I am actually not sure. I have seen you sucks overruled by the higher ups.....it really does take a big one to get it. hang out and watch for a year, lol, thats what I did, and was very lucky to be on ebay at the right time in the right catagory....poor seller pics, it was a perfect storm. $200 turned into few K really fast.
For those of you asking how much a coin has to sell for to qualify for a "YOU SUCK" award, here is Mad Marty's official Hall of Fame. There are no values listed but I remember the first score listed was purchased raw for $15 and after grading sold in excess of $10,000. My best cherry was purchased for under $200 and sold in excess of $3,000, and the official Lord of Suck (Marty) said it wasn't quite up to snuff. That should give you an idea of the scale of a score people are talking about.

I think that if you buy a coin worth 4 figures for only 2 figures then it's pretty much an automatic "you suck" or a 5 figure coin for only 3 figures... and so on...
<< <i>Evidently, the coin is meaningful if you collect them. >>
Being a "Meaningful" coin has little to do with sucking as its all about the end value of what you picked up for next to nothing.
<< <i>What's your definition of a "You Suck", Lee? >>
Its not really my definition but a board tradition which was started long ago.
You Suck territory is something which is purchased or cherried for a raw price and then graded or sold for hundreds or thousands more. Here's a perfect You Suck! Purchased in a 2x2, submitted to Teletrade for grading and auctioning, net = $14,000
No doubt its exciting to come across a Bugs Bunny when you are into Franklins and I'm glad for you, I just think the "you suck" is a bit premature since the grade is a grade that YOU assigned (not even any pictures) and not a professional grading service. Get it graded then come back for your award.

Lee - The "YOU SUCK" toned Quarter example that you use was purchased for a PCGS price guide $11,500 and sold for $14,000? Is that right?

No, he paid $8 for the coin in a cardboard 2x2 (check page 5 of the linked thread), submitted it to PCGS through Teletrade, and sold it for $14,000.

Jus out of curiosity, how big of a difference between price paid and price realized (or worth) does it have to be before "you suck"?
