Does anyone know Craig’s new address where we can send our cards? If you have it can you please PM me with it. I would like to send my cards before I start adding more to the group sub.
<< <i>Does anyone know Craig’s new address where we can send our cards? If you have it can you please PM me with it. I would like to send my cards before I start adding more to the group sub. >>
Same here. I know Craig's PM box has to be overwhelmed. Also, if someone has an example of the best way to list what I'm submitting to help Craig out, that would be cool too. Thanks!
Hey guys…sorry I’ve been MIA for a few days. I’m finally all moved in to my new place, so my head is back above water. My internet was installed at the new place on Saturday morning, but I haven’t had a chance to use it yet since I was busy the rest of the weekend getting the last of my stuff moved in and my old place cleaned up. Everything seems to be taking longer than expected.
I’ll be shipping out cards for the following people after work today:
The last part of the group sub is at the post office, so I’ll pick that up tonight. I should have no problem getting those cards out in the mail by the end of the week.
Again, sorry for all of the delays on my end. Life has been getting in the way of my plans, but now that I’m completely moved and getting settled in, the next one will go MUCH more smoothly!
Thanks to all of you for your patience!
For those of you wondering about the s/h charges for the next group sub, here is what I have been thinking. If everyone pays a flat charge of $4.90 per card (so an extra $0.40 per card), that will cover the shipping cost to PSA and from PSA back to me. If you are paying via Paypal, just let me know how many cards you’re sending and I can give you a total that would come out to $4.90 per card after their fees.
Then, when I receive the cards back from PSA, I will send Paypal invoices for the exact return shipping amount (plus Paypal fees) to each participant as their cards are ready to be shipped. The shipping cost is a little less through Paypal and it would be a LOT easier for me since I can then just print my postage through Paypal. The postage cost savings should offset the majority of the Paypal fee.
Let me know what you think about that. Your $4.90/card payment for grading fees could be paid by check/money order up front with your cards, but I’d hope that most everyone would be willing to send a second payment for return shipping via Paypal to make things on my end a little easier (and a LOT quicker).
I’ll be on later tonight to see what people think…
Thanks… Craig
p.s. I haven’t had a chance to check my PMs for a week or so, but I will reply to them all either tonight or tomorrow.
p.p.s. Rather than make everyone continue to wait for my address, I'll just put my PO Box info here so those of you who want to mail your cards for the next submission can start to do so:

Craig... Good to hear from ya, glad you're getting back in to the swing of things!
Everything you mentioned is fine by me... I'm hoping everyone else agrees! I know you're bombed with PM's, so I won't add to it for now.
I'll Paypal you funds shortly... I'm not sure what the equation is to figure the PP fees, but I'll just add a little to the total... I'll be sure and over-shoot a little! Keep anything extra, not worried about a few pennies!
I have 100 ready to go but would like to crack and resub 2 from the last sub if you can hang on a few days. Of course that is assuming the cards to be cracked were not damaged while being holdered or graded.
Being new to the forums, I haven't learned the in's and out's of the group subs. Craig-if you receive multiple copies of the same cards from different people, how (or are) they kept separate? If they are all sent in at once, is PSA able to keep them separate?
Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I'm new and just learning these things.
Each card is individually labeled with a specific number for that particular card. If you submit 50 cards, all of your 50 cards will be submitted in a group in the order that you sent them to Craig. I believe Craig is smart enough not to put the same card back to back on the form.
Thank you for the answer. I was sure there was a method, but was curious what it was.
As a "Newbie" am I eligible to participate in this sub, or is there a pecking order or waiting period? I can easily come up with 50 or so cards to send to Craig.

How is the declared value calculated? Is it the SMR value or is it price guide, ie if I have a $200 book value card in EX shape. Can I send that in since the actual value would be less than a $100.

There's no set rule on declared value as far as I know. Just be reasonable. If you want me to use a particular declared value for your cards, feel free to provide it. If not, I would be happy to assign a reasonable declared value as I fill out the form based on condition.
Just joined - if possible I would love to submit~75-90 cards - lots of 79 football to get in. I have cardsaver II's for all - will that be an issue? And are crossovers ok? Looked for a response on that but missed it. Just need to know where to mail send and will provide an excel sheet in advance if you like. And did I miss if the cards are mailed back to you first, or is it set for them to come back to us directly? Just curious about how to pay for shipping back to us if that's the case. Thanks! newb
Looking for rare Randy Moss rookies and autos, as well as '97 PMG Red Football cards for my set.
I submitted quite a few cards in CSII's in the first sub because that is how they were sent to me and I was too lazy to change them out. Didn't have any problems. It's just easier for the graders to remove them from CSI's.
Thanks for the info. So what are the odss of a bgs 9.5 crossover? I have two that dont seem trimmed/doctored and should be psa 10s if that's the case, but I know that psa doesn't like crossing over. problem is - I am way too scared to crack them. Is there a safe and easy way to do that? pete

I have cracked a bgs slab and it is quite a chore. I used a pair of tin snips and it took about 5 minutes to carefully remove the card from the case as the case was in many many pieces. I'm sure there are better ways, but this worked for me
Hold the top edge over the side of a table. And break it off with a hammer. MAKE SURE TO HAVE THE CARD FLAT ON THE TABLE, KEEP YOUR HAND OVER THE CARD TO PREVENT DAMAGE!!!!!
Once the top of the holder is broke off just take a sharp knife, and go along the side to pry it open.
Works perfect every time. I just broke 4 out to SUB to PSA in this group sub.
It takes around 2-3 minutes when you get use to it.
This scares the bejeezus out of me - although I am guessing my odds are better sending the cards back in raw than getting a crossover to a psa 10. I get my 6 free submissions - will maybe try the crossover and if that doesn't work, at least psa will have removed them from the case for me - haven't had damage issues from them before (when the cards all came back as trimmed or didn't qualify for my minimum grade - yeah!). pete

When PSA does the crossovers, they review the card in the slab and I don't believe they remove it when it doesn't qualify for the minimum grade.

Damn - now that you mention it, that sounds right. I did get a card saver II case with a label explaining why the card didn't get crossed over though - that's where my confusion lies.

There used to be a video that had different methods of cracking the big 3's slabs. I kind of wish PSA used more rigid holders. I think they are way too easy to open.
i use the following method for opening all slabs from any grading company.
first i went out an bought a Dremel rotary tool and cutting discs. i plug it in the outlet turn it on and go after a corner that is far away from the card. i cut through the corners as to allow access with a flat head screwdriver to pry open the case. for bgs its easy cut into the upper right corner through part of the label. then you will have access betwee the two main plastic slabs for a screw driver. insert and pry open. usuall you have to follow a little bit furhter down the holder. but it works well in my hands.
