A eBay Buyer for your Blocked list

lindaandsam443 - edited for the cap capitol L - use small l!!

I sold the following item on Saturday 5/2 eBay link

Shipped the coin Monday 5/4, Fully insured, emailed the Buyer that it was shipped and fully insured

No contact, no Beefs/emails from the Buyer so everyything is ok from my position as far as I know.

Wake up Friday 5/15, The idiot left negative feedback- "As of 5/15- No coin"

I email him 5/15 and asked him why the negative feedback and no contact from him - He states he tried to contact me(Total BS as he not only contacted me within 5 minutes of my email to him via eBay but he responded) I email him back that the coin was fully insured and I would have had the coin tracked/ and/or refunded his money. No response.

5/16- Paypal emails me that he filed a claim against me and the froze the funds. Ok now I am hotter than a pistol. After calming down I refund the losers freakin money and have decided to move on. I will take it up with the PO on Monday. Although the Black ins. slip I paid for is not trackable online, the local Postmaster is a friend and will be able to tell if it was indeed del'd.

In the meantime this jackoff just screwed up my 100% postive feedback on eBay and could care less. I'd advise everyone to block him. Now what kind of feedback do I leave for him????

don't think I would have been so quick to refund the money without first contacting the PO to see what they say.

was it registered mail? sometimes that can be painstakingly slow and 2 weeks wouldn't totally surprise me.

Insured only. I stewed over it for the last 24 hours and have decided to move on since Paypal will screw you in this case since it can't be tracked on line. If I find out it was indeed del'd....well that's a whole new ballgame.

i think you should have used delivery confirmation and given this
to all customers who buy from you. it would have solved this problem
and the customer not knowing if it was arriving or not.

also you would have a leg up with paypal.

i am not saying you did anything wrong and the person does not
suck... but for less then a buck you can save yourself some grief.

edited to add: i would get delivery confirm before insurance! i would
    self insure such small amounts.
  • What is the buyers ID Name?

E-bay used to have a 3rd party (mediator of sorts,) that you could appeal to
to have the neg removed. If I recall, you'd have to pay - I think it was about
$10 - to have the problem mediated. Check it out with the bay.

Did you used delivery confirmation? Paypal requires it for items under $250 (Signature Confirmation for items over $250). If you had DC and it was scanned delivered, they buyer would not win a Paypal claim.

As stated earlier, the coin was insured to the auctions full value to protect me, the seller. The issue is that this ahole bammed me with a neg w/o any contact. This is the kind of buyer you want to avoid at all costs.

I'm not positive, but if you have proof of delivery, you might have a case for feedback removal by eBay. I've
learned never to send a package w/o tracking!

The black insurance slip has a number on it so the post office just might be able to tell you if the package was delivered. I had something real close to this happen about a month ago and the local postmaster printed me a sheet showing that the package had been delivered. Talk to your postmaster and see if he/she can help you out with this.

You cannot track some of the PO slips with numbers but the PO can.

Hey, 37 bucks is 37 bucks.

    Ken
  • if it was insured and never delivered the PO will pay for it, if you refund the guy his money he will not be of any help when (if) the PO contacts him. hold off refunding until you clear it up with the PO. some buyers cannot be reasoned with, you can give the item away, pay shipping and still someone will beech about the color box it was packed in. about 1 in every 500 transactions turns into nothing short of a nightmare. as far as what kind of feedback to leave him, LOL your choices are positive, positive or positive. this forces sellers to re-evaluate just how important thier feedback is, all it takes is one douchebag buyer to tarnish a feedback rating and there is nothing you can do about it even if it was no fault of yours.

    Thanks for the heads up.
No contact before feedback; understood. Perhaps he could not respond to you because he has a problem with reading comprehension.

It is just the way of the world. Every once in a while you get a turd that you can not please and or is out to screw you over if you do not follow all the rules to a "T". It is just the way it is.

Since the big change at ebay i have had more issues than i had in all the years i have done ebay. Of course i invite most of it. I have blocked no one and i seem to get a lot of low feedback bidders or new ebay users. I generally just take the high road and figure when i go to meet my maker i will have lived a good life and done right.

About 2 weeks ago i sold a bag of wheat cents for 290 bucks. After the guy went thru the bag he said it was worthless and wanted his money back. I told him to send it back insured and i would refund him 100 percent and cover his return shipping. For a worthless bag it came back 5 pounds and 9 ounces lighter than i shipped it to him. I have had around 6 issues since the big change out of 300 or more auctions. I know deep down that they were just scammers but what can you really do? In the long haul i am still ahead of the curve so at this point i just continue foreward.

Reguardless of the item i sell i ALWAYS pack extremely well to where a dump truck and 3 monkees will not damage the item i am sending. I do not usually sell items under 75 dollars so i insure everything as well. I generally undercharge shipping fee by a few bucks but it is better for me to do it that way. I also email the buyer with the shipping info and try hard to ship the same day the item is paid for or the next day at the latest. I try to provide good descriptions and pics as well to help cut down on issues. Even if you do all of that you will have guys try to rip you off. Until a new and better venue comes along i am stuck at ebay. image

I ALWAYS get Del./Sig. Confirmation no matter how little the item sells for. That way there's no question about whether it was delivered or not.

I will block him though and sorry to hear bout your loss.

Blocked and I've also started using Delivery Confirmation for items insured for less than $200. It's worth the .80 cents to me.
  • Thank you Manorcourtman for the info. I have encountered a couple turds in the past
and managed to avoid the neg. I am sorry for your experience.

DC would not have fixed the issue of getting the neg. Try reading comprehension.

Delivery confirmation is much more effective than insurance. And if you use paypal shipping it is only $.18 instead of $.80. Free for priority mail. --Jerry

Ok, some help please. I found out today the coin was del'd from my local Postmaster. Coin mailed as I stated 5/5. Coin was scanned del'd 5/7. What would you do now? He already has been refunded $$. In the meantime I have my first negative feedback in years and am out the $$. Next step?? Mannnn am I pizzed!!!
  • File a non-paying bidder complaint with Ebay, rather than PayPal. Since he got a refund, he hasn't paid, right? Since you have proof of delivery, he has the item. Make your case with Ebay, instead of PayPal.

Anyone have shmort's ebay ID. I'd like to make sure I add him to the blocked bidders list as well.

I called eBay. They will not remove feedback. They said the seller has to "revise" it. Snowballs just in Hades since he seemingly scammed me and will not communicate with me. eBay says I should file a claim with Paypal to get $$ back. $$ is not my main concern. eBay will not remove feedback under any circumstance it seems and the Girl I spoke to seemed very appologetic about their policy which seems very unreasonable given the circumstances. Man do I hate eBay at the moment. Note to self....Always use delivery confirmation. I hope someone learns from this. Insurance is worthless at this point since PO says coin was del'd. I guess I wait and see if he revises feedback and than pursue matters with Paypal.........
  • CoinlearnerCoinlearner Posts: 2,576 ✭✭✭✭✭
Yes, file with ebay. Call Payfee and see if they can help. Even though a small amount,I would not let it go. I gather info to send to the Postmaster,as "buyer" claims PO did not delivered. Before this I'd send this person a message about delivery and intent to file a complaints with above..........MAYBE someone stole out of his box or another family member has it.
  • If it is any consolation, this coin was stolen from me by giantstu, so you are not alone, and I certainly sympathize.

Full documentation of his theft, and the manner in which he accomplished it, has been and will continue to be maintained, not that I expect to ever get it back, but I hope he someday decides to try suing me for slander, so that I can present the evidence to a judge. In the meantime, I will continue to warn others about the man.

The image is the one I used when I "sold" it to him on Ebay.

  • Hi. I went ahead and blocked him for my auctions based on what you said, but I'm confused. I just pulled him up...with lower-case corrections, as "lindaandsam443" and I see this guy with a 14-count feedback and 100%. I see he has 3 transactions in the past 90 days and after looking at his transactions as a buyer, can't see his negative. Is it just me? I'm not seeing it.

So...that be as it may...point is, he neg'd you without an opportunity to clear something up 1st. He's only got 14 feedbacks total. He's a nothing...and people who know you will understand that. Thankfully, I have not had such an experience, save a couple in a row...(you can search me on that negative feedback thing online......yada yada...yeah...I've had TWO...both related...both scammers)

Bottom line...Always insure your shipment. Not just for the buyer, but for YOU. You should claim on this. Forget this guy. AND if you haven't already negative feedbacked this loser, make sure to "REPLY TO FEEDBACK" and make your point known.

    This guy is a 14 feedbacker. He's a NOBODY.
You all have beautiful coins! You are an inspiration!
