Express mail to PCGS being sent back return to sender!

AnkurJAnkurJ Posts: 11,370 ✭✭✭✭
Arrived today, when tracked said return to sender! Address was correct, and shipping was fully paid.

How can a po box return to sender???
Has this ever happened to anyone else?

Not sure what to do now but wait....package won't be back until
Monday.

Only thing I can think of, is either no one picked up item at post office and sat on shelf too long

or PO sent it somewhere else and the other PO decided to return to sender rather than continue trek to addressee

I can believe the sitting on the shelf thing, every now and then I ask my p.o. to rummage for stuff in my name and the last time they found a heritage catalog from Last year.

Maybe it looked damaged and pcgs didnt want to be responsible for it.

It was sent yesterday and arrived today! Coin was in a bubble envelope but in an express mail envelope which was then put in a express mail box! Three layers of protection.

What now? No answer at the post office which IS currently open!

Can you copy and paste the tracking history for the package?

I just had a similar thing happen. Mailed a package on Tues, using a Paypal-generated USPS barcoded postage label and it arrived back at my house on Thursday!

Now that postage rates have gone up, they are putting their geniuses who don't know the difference between FROM and TO in the sorting department image

Now there is an update, says return to sender, but now says notice left! What kind of dummies are working there??
First they are going to return it, and hours later it arrived?

I'm so confused....and the coin inside is an expensive one!

Return to Sender, May 16, 2009, 8:17 am, SANTA ANA, CA
    Processed, May 15, 2009, 6:32 pm, NEWARK, NJ 07114
    Acceptance, May 15, 2009, 4:07 pm, CALDWELL, NJ 07006

Last question....why would a NOTICE be left at a PO BOX??????

The arrival at Newport Beach is later than the "Return to Sender" in Santa Ana. It appears to me that the most likely scenario is that PCGS will pick it up from the P.O. Box Monday morning.

Thats why I wanted to see what it said. Last expess mail I sent pcgs maybe a month ago said something about it would be returned to sender and it worried me but a few hours later it said it was delivered.

your return to sender time is out of sync
and they leave notice because you package didn't fit PO box

I don't believe express can go to a post office box since is guaranteed to be delivered to a person within a short period of time. Could be wrong.

If it addressed to a PO Box it must be delivered to a PO Box. When a person comes to the PO Box then the person will pick up the package. The pacakge was guaranteed to be delivered to the PO Box by the deadline. My Post Office even knows me and if I get an Express Package addressed to my PO Box it will sit there until I come in. Once it gets to the PO Box Box they have fullfilled their committment.

  • Yeah, I've rec'd Express Mail at my PO Box all the time; take the notice to the window and sign for the package there---no problemo!

Duh!.....someone scanned it at Santa Clara and hit the wrong friggin button. It later made it's way to Newport Beach and no one from PCGS was there when it arrived, hence "Notice Left".

You hit the nail on the head. Somebody hit the wrong button. I'm sure your coin will be picked up today or on Monday by PCGS. (Sometimes the mail room works on Saturday)image
