I placed an order for some Licoln Uncirc Commems before the waitlist....

I got a line item cancelled: out of stock e-mail for them recently.

So, as of right now, the surely safe ones are those around first order number + 20k

but, who knows what the total offering will be...

It took until 90 minutes into the process before my computer finally weaved its way into the Mint Checkout page... and by then, I was already on the phone with someone, having tried to geth through persistently for the same 90 minutes...

Only time I worked up a sweat sitting in my office.

The price of the Birthplace Mint rolls on Ebay have rebounded a bit, now in the $50-$60 range. They might go up even more if the Formative Years rolls don't sell out tomorrow.

Well, if they made 200,000 or 300,000 or more of these logsplitter sets...the good news is that the log cabin sets just got more valuable. If they make these sets to collector deman for the remaining coins in the set, the log cabins will be the key mint roll to own. I bought a few sets last night just to hedge against this possibility...and because I wanted them.image

I agree. And I think it's primarily collectors who ordered the Log Cabin sets from the Mint because they were sold with very little hype and expectation. I think this is a good example of the Mint's actions rewarding collectors, even though I don't think the Mint consciously did this.

i am not sure i agree with this. the amount of them selling on ebay
seems to refute your thoughts. collectors normally buy a set and
keep them... not flip them. An easy 500 auctions lets say.. with many
    of them selling multiple sets.

more likely the people who had an inkling that these rolls were cheap
enough that a quadruple increase in price was likely do to idiots wanting
to jump on the band wagon!

i say idiots in the nicest of way of course image

do collectors really need to buy 5 sets? nah.. flippers do though.

please correct me if i made an error somewhere with this opinion.
a small fraction went to collectors at first and they had plans to keep
    them long term.

there is a 5 set limit: mint rules

error? collectors don't need 5? not persons buying as gifts or keepsakes???

transparency: I got 5 and will likely flip them. 60:40 right now.

well if there is a 5 set limit why would a collector buy 5 sets if not
to wheel and deal with 2-4 of them?

lets face it.. normal collectors buy 1 set and call it a day. i also wonder
just how many people give these as gifts... i am not very confident
of that angle except the people who bought some for the kiddies.

and an equally low number of MS69?

PS: I'm not skilled enough to know what will pass as a 70 or 69 or 68

I bought 5 b/c it was the Mint's limit. I collect mint roll sets and I must have OCD b/c I opened all 5 white boxes to get two sets that are H/T in the end-roll coin orientation. I now have 3 that I will part with. Waiting for my "Fromative years" roll sets to arrive in June. And I will continue to order 5 until all four roll sets have been released.

I won't flip them until next year when the dust settles (at least the 3 roll sets that I won't keep in the collection).

It's funny how many folks here complain about the U.S. Mint. But w/o the U.S. Mint there wouldn't be a U.S. Coin forum here on CU and no U.S.-coin Numasmitic specialists, no U.S. Coin collectors whatsover, whether or not you collect classics, U.S. Mint bullion, other U.S. Mint PM coins, VAMs, Moderns, clads, errors, and "widgets"!

The U.S. Mint is the sole source of everything we collect and post about here! Period. Whatever trips your trigger is alright by me. Enjoy the hobby. No need in denigrating what someone else collects. Yes, there are flippers, but so what. Collectors need Dealers of all sort to fill there Want Lists.
