<< <i>Are you a socialist? Should we spread the wealth? Everyone is entitled to a set? >>
Don't put words in my mouth.
I'm all for capitalism. I'm not a big fan of predatory capitalism. IMO, predatory capitalism is what leads a lot of otherwise reasonable people toward wanting socialism through laws and excessive regulation.
It appears (from order numbers), we are nearing 30,000 sets sold.
Actually that would be 30K orders for a possible 150,000 sets sold. Probably something less than that, but the odds are increasing by the minute that the mint packaged far more than 100,000 sets of these.

I can't believe I paid 5 X 8.95 + 4.95(shipping) = 49.70 - 5.00(face value) = 44.70 for paper wrappers and shipping! Sheesh, I should have my head examined.
Someone on another forum said they just submitted an order and the backordered date was June 15. Perhaps this is an indication that the 96K sets limit has been reached?
<< <i>Someone on another forum said they just submitted an order and the backordered date was June 15. Perhaps this is an indication that the limit has been reached? >>
For what it's worth, the item is still listed on the web site for sale and "available for shipping on 05/29/2009". So at this point it's anyone's guess.
My co-worker just ordered 5 sets about 45 minutes after I did. Her order number is 3,000 higher than mine. Hers: 31707xxx Mine: 31704xxx
The mint site is quick and easy to get onto. I've already come to terms if they are only worth 50 cents a roll. It's not like my retirement will change.
I like that they are just a new penny with big fat ONE CENT lettering.
Probably, the mint will continue to find ways to do this with every coin....dime is the only high circulator left to do.
I went to Union Station as my lunch break today. Arrived around 1:40. There was a line about 40 people/10 minutes long. I noticed many people recycling to the end of the line. I did the same. Guy behind me says I'll give you $60 for 6 rolls. OK. Get to the front, lady at the counter notes I have been there before... OK but not again. Pay $3, get six rolls, hand them over for $60.
Now I will check e-bay and see if I kick myself hard, or soft.

<< <i>What's a good price to sell these in hand P mint rolls of Linkys. Any thoughts guys? >>
$0.50
Difference between first and last order number after almost 2 hours is 17,000 orders.
IF everyone ordered FIVE, that would be 85,000 in two hours.
IF they only have 100,000 to sell, this will be a FAST sell out !!!

if you send them out today, you can get them First Day of Issue slabbed.
10x face is what some of the birthplace were going for not long after release.
though the fewer the # of rolls, the more expensive shipping seems.

This was supposed to be limited to 100,000 roll pairs.

No. Lot of speculation that it would be similar to the approx. 100,000 sets for the first rolls. But could be 2-3x that as far as we know.
