<< <i>The 1876-CC twenty cent piece brought only $460k total - that's around a six figure loss for the consignor. The days of automatic increases for classic rarities appears to be over. >>
Ouch, I wonder if a dealer bought it with intensions of a large markup?

I was the underbidder. I figured at a little over $400k it was a decent buy.

How do you figure? If the consignor got less than 100% hammer i'd be shocked! Probably closer to 105% to 110% if the consignor knew what they were doing, especially considering the size of the consignment and the number of 'dream' coins. Consignor probably lost ~$350k to $400k if i had to guess, still not chump change! Ouch!

that is so anti-papparazzi.... but nice to read.
I picked up this 1804 dollar 2 weeks ago at coin club for $1. Not bad for face value.

<< <i>Congrats to John Albanese for acquiring the 1804. >>
Wow, nice pick up. Do you think it will get a CAC sticker? No joking I really want to know how well it was graded considering the power of this coin.

IMO, all certified 1804 dollars are two points too high.

Which means that CAC will be in question if it gets it?
