as for the auction ending.. that could be for many reasons.
decided to put it up for auction elsewhere, it sold, owner decided to keep it, etc...
just odd. i enjoy hearing the story and debates around such coins.

Edit: Bummer either way.

So I'm guessing it was a legitimate 65 S/S with no designation on the bell lines? I think I'd cry after that but would keep the coin/slab anyways! But that's me.

In my business when my people make a so called "mechanical error" I have to eat it. And it often costs big time. IMO if PCGS makes an error they should do the same. It's called credibility.

No kidding man...I was within seconds of hitting the BIN on ebay when it disappeared
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
a single response . He was taking us all for a ride ........
we all make mistakes in judgement .........but this issue stinks of deception and knowingly trying to pull a fast one .
he did not offer a return priv.....
this is just the kind of crap you were crucifying Tomaska for doing in the buying/selling of his '53-S FBL coin ;
then you turn right around and do virtually the same thing you were pounding him for doing ........
boy , i hope they torch and flame you ; u deserve it
I feel so deceived...

Is a mechanical error something like a mechanical bull?

Why is he laughing then? If the coin was not FBL, he certainly knew it. The board got taken for Mr. Toad's wild ride.

Nuked = deleted = poofed
Locked = no new posts so it eventually drops off the front page and into oblivion
Worry is the interest you pay on a debt you may not owe.
......yes, he knew it -that is for certain
and PCGS knew it too , in only a matter of hours ..........
but how could they be so certain it was a mechanical error - without having the coin sent back first so they could check it out ?
And why did Mr. Toad give in so quickly ..........I mean he was holding at least 25,000$ in his hand ?
.............p.m. me if you want to know how PCGS knew immediately it was a mechanical error

My guess is that Bushmaster called them and told them it was a mechanical error.
about the only thing he's doing is sticking his head in the sand and pretending it was only a bad dream ......
