2009 Lincoln 2 roll mint set sucks

Just rec'd 5 sets of the new Lincoln 2 roll penny mint sets. They are absolutely hideous. Big scratches, spots, and on one the 'VDB' initials are scratched off, and you see the grey zinc. I haven't even opened the rolls, these are the top coins. Sorry, I'm not a good picture taker. Can't send them back because they're sold out. Absolutely terrible, the rolls I get from banks are 10 times better. The supermarket might even refuse to take them, they really look that bad.

Don't worry the mint employees personally scratched and dinged up every single one before they were shipped to you, Why do you think it took 6 weeks to ship? image

From what I have seen, the money is for the mint wrapped rolls. If you opened them, you destroyed most of the value anyway.

The rolls have probably been thrown around the warehouse for the last month trying to make room for the millions of Sacagawea's and Presidential Dollars...oh yeah and all the Kennedy's halves too image

But like dbldie55 said the wrap is the premium, not the coins themselves.

So now it will only be another 4 or 5 weeks till my order ships image

I'll buy any rolls you don't want for $10/pair including shipping.

Or post 'em on eBay and probably get more.

The coins are only there to give the valuable wrapper some support. The Mint knows this so they put the garbage coins inside rather than sending them to the reject bin.

We will soon be having "Grade my Wrapper" threads....image

    Many happy BST transactions

Btw, I just received a P&D set today (waiting for the other 4, they were ordered on different days), and I'd have to say I'm kind of disappointed myself. My end roll coins aren't nearly as bad as your description, but 3 out of 4 have what looks to me like a rust color (not really dramatic amounts and only visible under the loupe). And the one that doesn't have that color has some spots on it.

If you ask me, these are no different than the "Direct Ship" rolls available for the dollar coins.
The Mint specifically says those are circulation quality coins. I would expect the same for the
    Lincoln rolls.

You'll be lucky to get them this month. They are up to about 12:12 pm of the first day based on posts here. I had a 12:06 order filled but the Wife's order at 12:14 pm is still in process. They are a hopeless lot of idiots at the fullfillment center. Painfully slow to ship anything these days.

I don't believe so. There is at least two people in This thread I made who ordered before me but mine were shipped out on the 9th while theirs were still "in stock and reserved", Although it was only a few minutes difference, I still did receive a shipped status before they did.

First in first out is working on the government punch clock. 9:10 am is 8:30am, 4:30pm is 6:00pm.
Its the lunch time part that messes it up. 11:59am is 12:30pm and 1:00pm is 12:15pm.

There is nothing special about these coins. These are not the Top coins. They are just out of the bin.

If anything they are the ones they didn't want to send to the Banks because they were so bad... image

Yeah it's a real bummer making a 1,000% return on these modern rolls. I only made a 200 % profit ($3300) on my modern junk UHR. Anymore good advice?image
