This has the makings of one of the famous CU full-on investigations that results in the total exposure and humiliation of another tool in the card community. Where're Perry & Bill?

I'm curious to see a full header as well, but I think we'll find Sunnyvale, CA to be the location.

I had a coworker who was being watched, but both she and her family were being taunted with emails as well.

It was a Yahoo account...without a contact within their system, it's pretty hard to obtain an IP for an individual user's internet connection...everything is looped back to home base.

I saw that, but thought it might just be the server base, or whatever storm said about yahoo.com addresses.

I think whoever emailed you does not have the cards and is just playing you.

If it was me I'd let Mr. Bednarik know what he did, maybe he can contact the person he
    sent it to?

Greg this person IMO does not have your cards. The person that does have them
is going to keep his mouth shut if he wants to keep them. No one in their right mind
would do what this guy is doing. He is simply rubbing salt in your wounds.

There's a good chance that's true about being trolled.

But I feel like the wording of the email almosts fits the kind of guy that deleted his post on the other board. Maybe he feels like he's being exposed as a thief, and wanted to throw his doubt on who owns the cards, and the legal 9/10s BS just to start a defence. I've seen so many of that type of slimbag.

    Steve,

I posted that I was missing the cards on the evening of 4/2 and the other member posted the next morning (the morning of 4/3) that he received the extra cards and then removed his post ~ 12 hours later. I think the guy saw my comment and deleted his post to hide his identity.

    Who really knows.

    Could be so.

Since the cards were going to be submitted to PSA/DNA,
the story of their being purloined is certainly on topic, though.

So even that does not prove that he has them. My point was if he posted first then
it is possible he has them. He most likely read your post and began his charade from that point.

Here, the alleged perp - spoofer - admits to having committed an
act that he contends is neither a crime nor a tortious act.

The OP would need to prove, by a tiny margin in small claims, that
    the act was tortious.

If the email was genuine, the "proof" is a slam dunk.

Here is the response I got from him:

Uh oh. I have been harassed over email. Guess I better do what the big bad emailer says. Since a complete stranger has vouched for this idiot over email, it all must be true!
Listen you a**bag, you get a life. I am not going to be scammed out of something I was sent as a gift by somebody I wrote. The scan he sent me does not match the card I have.
Tell you what, when I put this card up for auction, you and your buddies can get together a pool and bid on it for your friend if he wants one so badly. If you email me again, I
will report you for harassment and have your account shut down.

If the guy has the cards AND his name is revealed,
his student newspaper sells cheap display ads.

I might run BIG ads asking for the SCUM to return my merch.

I would include the whole story and the emails in which he
admits to having received the cards.

Most folks would find his conduct "poor."
