Proof half eagle online - decent buy or not? [April Fools!]

Don't see much early proof gold on ebay these days. Seems legit, though.
Not exactly my specialty, but I figure someone here will go for it...
Edit: logout link removed...
Sorry gang - just a bit of well-intended 4/1 fun... Went over well on the currency board. My apologies to anyone who was offended.

A better method is to "Quote" the post, that way the links show up a the text they were input with.
BTW, even though this is considered harmless by a lot of folks, there ARE some folks who do not regularly logon and off and therefore do not always remember their passwords. The end result is frustration and anger at the fellow that posted the prank.
The last fellow that did this opened a dummy webpage which implemented the logout.cfm command and he got bammed for putting a Trojan Horse up on the forums. As harmless as it was, it was still technically a Trojan.

Yes, you are correct - the last guy used a dummy web page with a Trojan. My link simply logged off the user, in the same way as if they'd clicked on the 'logout' button themselves. No dummy web page, no Trojan, nothing to fear.
See the thread on the currency board titled "$5 Chief Star on Ebay Ending today" (I WON'T link to it!) for an example of this same April Fools joke there. It went over pretty well!
I'm truly sorry to bruise anyone's feelings or cause any hardship, but geez - it IS April 1, after all!
Man - 10 replies to this prank on the Currency Board - all good natured & humorous. Try it here though, and a fellow gets burned at the stake!
Wonder why the difference between the two crowds???

I clicked it and I laughed. People are way to serious on this board.

Which thus makes it a very appropriate April fools prank!
<< <i> ... someone did something similar on these boards within the last few months and not only was it not received well by the members, but I think the OP got into a heated exchange with some folks about it, too, which may have made people think that it was going to happen again. ... >>
TomB - I had nothing to do with anything like this in the past, and was never involved in any heated exchanges with any folks about anything like this either. Please look back, and you'll see that I was not a party to anything like this.
It was a foolish April Fools prank, nothing more, nothing less. I am sorry, and I should not have assumed that the folks on the Coin Board would react with the same sense of humor as those on the Currency Board. My mistake, obviously.

No, most of us have a sense of humor like some of you have on the coin side.
* The fact that someone tried this lame joke again so soon after the last time it was tried (and people got banned and WARNED not to use the logout as a "trick" anymore)?
* The reactions by people tired of other people trying to inflict what THEY think is funny on everyone?
* Using the currency nerds' reaction to similar as comparable and an excuse?
* Some of the currency nerds running here to defend one of their own?
* The multiple "I'm so sorry" comments? Come on man, own up to what you did and don't keep apologizing. Apologize once and accept that you PO'ed people for what you did...much worse than you imagined.
* The fact that grown adults always have to try something for April Fool's day....I gave it up years and years ago and let my kid do it. I may be old and grumpy but at least you can trust what I tell you.
* The fact that I have to agree with FC for once....man....can't believe that one!
....I still can't get over the fact that this was done in the currency forum before, had a big thread on it, and some of those fools still fell for it (and thought it was funny). Says something about them.... "Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, and, well, I collect currency so you can keep on fooling me"
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

It's sad that we all collect similar things but people like you think you're better because you collect coins. I think you one of the people that needs to grow up with such backwards thinking.
Also, I fell for it and didn't think it was funny. But it's no big deal. I just log back on and no harm is done. I think people aren't saying that you should find it funny but to just lighten up. I don't see any harm in it unless you forgot your password.
I know this will keep this thread going longer but...I started with coins but matured into currency...in other words, I grew up.
Alas some clear thought. You sir are right, you do not. I agree.
dtreter and LeftCoaster......good sense of humor!
I actually fell for this prank, but I just kinda laughed about it. It wasn't the first 4/1 prank of the day, and not the last. But at least it wasn't the worst!
www.GoCoins.com
Gotta love it...the strong opinions on both sides
So, I think what he did was wrong....I laugh at currency geeks....they come running over here and take offense at what a coin nerd says
Great thing is that you all have your own little forum, which doesn't get much traffic from what I have seen before, and can have all the little laughs there....you just don't seem to like it when folks on this forum don't find the same things funny, do ya?
Remember, this is the 2nd time this tired little thing has happened in just a few months.....wow! Pretty original, isn't it? F U N N Y stuff it is so original
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
and you guys fell for it a second time...priceless!
