<< <i>Just because they overcharge for their coins when selling doesn't necessarily mean they overpay when buying. >>

Maybe they're not buying because you're overcharging when selling... image

Was one of them a longtime Northern California dealer and a big whole page advertiser in CW and NN for 40+ years? I cannot understand how that fellow can sell ANY coins

That particular dealer has an excellent reputation Mr. Jack and has sold ONE HECK of a lot of coins to ONE HECK of a lot of people.
No complaints from people I know the last several decades.

I am sure he does, no doubt. I just find it impossible to buy there.

Some dealers use different strategies to price different coins: generics priced at market, "stuff" priced cheap, "better" coins priced at retail, and miscellaneous debris at some markup over cost. Special coins will always command special prices. It's hard to know how crazy the dealer was without knowing what kind of material exhibited a high price...

  • Great question... I like the replacement cost and future appreciation model.

My dilemma... A couple of nice pieces I've purchased generates traffic and interest in my other items.

I fear somebody might be realize their future value and pay my price and it will be gone.

So I try to find my happy price... and I still think I have them underpriced.

    Let me fix something here

I meant ZERO disrespect for my mentioned dealer, just commenting on the thread of high priced dealers. My sincere apologies if my post seems disrespectful or out of line.
