UPDATE # 2 ~ (post #40)
Wow, just saw I had hit post number 2000.... so I figured for 2001 I'd do a giveaway ~
And, after that last topic, which garnered my 2000th post.... I'm gonna do it this way:
Post something nice about another member on this forum.
I will randomly - or not so randomly, depending on my mood & the quality of posts - select a poster and their postee to receive something numismatic...
(I'll post what the giveaway recipients will get later, when I dig through my box of junk!!)

ThePCC - Long time dealer friend of mine since August 2007. Has been there as a friend as much of a dealer helping things grow and take an interest into what i do. When people say its hard to be both dealer and friend at the same time he is the best at it.
RYK - I remember when i first started here in 2003 he was the one i went to when i wanted to learn about GOLD coins. He helped me out alot and my collection is what is cause of him.
Granddad. - even though I havent seen him on in years He was a great fountain of info, Actually I think I have his cell phone number and I should give him a call sometime ( do you think it would be to pushy after 4 yrs to give him a call?)
Goldmine - Hes a great guy who really knows his Gold certs. If you ever was interested in gold certs he would be the man to go to.
Boom - well anyone named boom has to be cool, but hes a nice guy whos willing to teach me more about coins and what to do when you get a whole mess of them.
Mach19 for the lincoln cent. ( still havent seen any by me , im still the envy of the block ).
Cypher - Im learning that me and him have the same enjoyment for CBH's Someday I hope to have a really nice collection of said coins. He is mad cool to chat with online as well.
Askraq- for this post but I think I met you in a chatroom a few times. I dont recall your name on there but if it is the same person then we have had some nice convos .
And cant forget ( nearly did) hepkitty from hepcity. I enjoy her franklin coin collection I think its cool how she incorperates the whole 50s style into her posts her site and from what i gather how her every day life is. Very cool in deed
Oh shoot, its gotta be about someone else.
Uh lets see......................I think that ProofArtworkonCircs is one dedicated numismatist. For those that are not aware, he's Herb Hicks and he's been active in the coin collecting arena for a long, long time. When it was allowed, he corresponded directly with the US Mint on multiple occasions looking for answers to questions that a lot of folks had. The answers he received are still being referenced today. His knowledge level is remarkable and he is always more than willing to supply that information to all that ask.
Another forum member I have huge volumes of respect for is Cladiator! His knowledge and insights regarding the collecting of Modern US Coinage is one that new collectors should really pay attention too. He sets aside the "classic vs modern barriers" and addresses coin collecting for what it really is, the systematic gathering of the best available examples of our countries coinage while its still available. Not bullion doo-dahs that have an intrinsic value of "x time face", but coins.
DId I win?
The name is LEE!
Once there was one of those "Post a non-coin hobby item" type thread and I posted a few license plates from my collection.
Next thing I know I have a pm from northcoin wanting my address so he could send me a plate from his home state.
That's one that comes to mind.

RYK is kind of like the Yoda of the forum. Like that, I.
LordM has always got an interesting story, (when he's around anyway) and even the most mundane stories read like a Zane Grey novel...
and gotta admire another Mustang/coin nut - "thumbs-up" to Braddick.
I'll stop now.
Thanks for letting me participate!
Post something nice ... hmmmmm ... so many people here I can post nice things about ... I really can not decide, as I suspect you mean just one person.
I could list at least 15 or 20 off the top of my head, and probably another 20 if I took a few more minutes, and write very nice things about each of them ... for their generosity, friendship, comradere, wealth of well-presented information, and even wonderful humor.
This place is a wonderful melding-pot.
Since there are some giveaways going, and I always think of that as a generous action ... I think I will mix it up, and post a little about two generous people ... and if by chance I am randomly selected, and you can, send something to each of them, instead of anything to me.
Some three or four years ago (?) I asked about Jefferson Nickels in a thread to Keets (Al). Some PM's followed, and Al was very generous (and patient!) with sharing some insight to the series with me. That's been quite some time ago, but during that time IIRC Al was going through some rehab from a back injury, and I believe unemployed. Anyway, although some of the details elude me, some are still crystal clear. A package arrived sometime later ... a "gift" ... 13 wonderful, colorful Unc Jefferson's, including the two types of 1939 for reverse comparisons. Several more PM's also followed with information about the series, pricing ideas and books. I tried to pay Al ... I was (and still am) not used to being the recieptiant ... and I went back and found his exact words so I could quote him here ...
try to do something nice for someone who needs help, without letting anyone know, or expecting anything in return
Every time I can my friend ... every time I can.
From what I have seen around here, Al is an ambassador to the hobby, always helping when asked and providing a warm welcome for many of our newer members.
57loaded (Bill) is another one of the very generous, and also very modest people I can think of here. Bill, much like Al, gives freely and is noatably modest in doing so. Also, excepting for the giveaways he does, he seems very "low-profile". I won a random giveaway he did ... oh, maybe a year ago ... three 2007 US Mint Dollar Set's and a very nice 64 Proof set ... which if you think about it for a moment is quite a lot. In his later responses to PM's when I realized what I had won (I was kindof clueless), he was humble and modest. I have read many of his posts, and he always seems to remain of that modest and cheerful temperment from what I can see, contributing when it suits him or asked, and open with his thoughts and knowledge. I tried to meet with him once in person (we only live a couple hundred miles apart), but we missed ... next time we'll connect. When we do, I'll keep you posted.
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”

Your question is a very good way to point out the many good people who are part of this forum.
Two people that have allways caught my attention for their patience and professionalism are Cladking and 19Lyds. Their expert knowledge has given me so many things to ponder when I read their posts and responses. Even when I made a mistake, 19Lyds very gentlemanly pointed out my error. Being relatively new to this wonderful hobby, I would like to thank everyone for their help especially Cladking and 19lyds.

My choice for one of if not the hardest working person on site...................BOOM
most of us are pretty cool,
these current economic times can bring out the best of us, hopefully and help us realise what is truly important, lasting and forever.
You can post as many times as you want, or post about as many members as you want.
I will do a random drawing by selecting a random number - counting down the number of "postees" (recipients of nice things said), and then the person who posted them.
Therefore.... the more nice things you have to say (comments, stories, observations, etc.) about other members - the GREATER your odds are!!!
BTW - Happy 1st day of SPRING ~
I'll just post once but could you count it for about 200+ entries because that's about the number of people who have helped me in one way or another since I've joined the coin forum and I don't feel comfortable naming names because I don't think that's not the kind of people they are.
Time and time again, one person or another, in one way or another have been just great and I don't think any of them would like me bragging about how great they are because I don't think they helped me (and probably a lot of other people too) so that people would know about it. They did it because that's just the kind of people they are. People are so generous in every way you can think of here that I thought all coin collectors were like that. So when I started going to shows, joined our local coin club and stuff like that and saw how selfish, crabby and unwilling to help or even answer questions most of the people I've met at those places are, it made me realized just how lucky I was to be a member here and know the people I know.
So thanks to them and thanks to you for this giveaway.
--------edit to add-------
I'm just kidding about the 200+ entries, that's just the way I feel

And although I have had many honest, helpful and kind encounters with many different board members, - they say your first answer is usually the correct one. So, since his name came first to my mind, I'll have to tip my hat to Lordmarcovan, also.
I lurk and try to learn. And Rob seems consistently nice to everyone, - always.
Oreville is nice on the board but even nicer in person!
But it was Kryptonitecomics (Shane) who first got me into toned coins, and helped me with the whole NT vs. AT thing. He has helped me with TPG submissions and is a great person all around, even through I have never met him in person.
<< <i>All the members I have talked have been very nice and more than willing to help me with questions and such.

this is exactly what i mean... Kryptonitecomics has helped me also, as have so many others.
Notwilight on the moderns has been very helpful as well.
Roadrunner and his metals understanding has been great (but not always right!, lol)
Plenty more have been very helpful to explain VAMs, dies, clips and such. It's been a very
pleasurable experience on this board.

All three have much more numismatic experience than I and all have been posting here much longer than I. They all are tolerant of new hobbyists seeking information here and they have been quite patient with my sometimes exuberant antics here at times too.
I really love this chat board and I am ever humble and appreciative of the vast numismatic knowlege availabe to everyone and anyone who is inquisitive enough to enqurire!

Oh shoot, its gotta be about someone else.>>
What the heck, I can say it. Besides I owe him one for that glowing testamonial he gave me.
I have many friends here, especially those also in the Ike Group and Ike Club.
Seeing the other posts is most interesting. I am learning about other members, who I haven't interacted with yet.
So thanks, AskRaq, for starting this thread.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
I'll have to say Conder101 is a walking encyclopedia of numismatically related info. I came to these boards to learn and he has never failed to either answer my questions directly or at least point me in the right direction.
I'd also have to send kudos to 291fifth. He sent me my first ever coin on approval on the BST.. yes, I bought it and I still have it!
Leo
Successful BST transactions with: SilverEagles92; Ahrensdad; Smitty; GregHansen; Lablade; Mercury10c; copperflopper; whatsup; KISHU1; scrapman1077, crispy, canadanz, smallchange, robkool, Mission16, ranshdow, ibzman350, Fallguy, Collectorcoins, SurfinxHI, jwitten, Walkerguy21D, dsessom.
From the general members I can think of two that I have enjoyed conversing and dealing with. Mach19. His giving away of the new Lincolns recently made for some happy members. And yes BroardStruck deserves mention for his youth contest. I have had behind the scenes dealing on the BST with both of these guys and have found them to be honest and fair.
And finally I have found you to be a welcome part of the gang. And would you just pass over my entry and find one of the YN’s for your prize. BTW welcome back haven’t seen you around here much lately.
Hmmmm....a lot of the posters here are really great so it is tough to say...from the folks who have helped me avoid 'bad' coins through their educational posts, to the ones who have helped me expand my collection via the BST, to the ones who have had various giveaways or other things for my YN kiddos, and just the ones who keep things interesting around here with the humoreous posts it has been a very good thing for me all around. Helped me get out of my shell quite a bit.
Here are a few that come to mind and there are quite a few more.....I read posts more than I post or PM so a lot of these folks I have never one-on-one communicated with but since they are frequent posters it is sort of like I do...
LeeG and his copper and classic commems posts. I like both of those subjects and have benefited from his knowledge and enthusiasm.
Spacemonkey for his awesome photos and templates
Longacre for his thought provoking and sometimes humorous posts...I almost feel like I really know him.
19Lyds for getting me interested in Ikes...almost to the point of finishing my collection of them!
Boom for his knowledge and the great Kennedy collection I acquired from him (still waiting on the BU Washies though
Bear for his insight...I wished I listened to him more as a lot of this thoughts about things including jelly donuts have been spot on.
RYK and his knowledge and discussion of gold and other things has helped me a great deal
MadMarty for his humor
Russ for his knowledge and attitude. I know more about Kennedy halves than I ever thought I would and there is plenty more to go.
LordMarcovan for his great posts even the Dig o the Day posts which I always enjoyed.
BONGO BONGO for really making me lauch...I still use that 'rain soaked highway' quote every now and then...
Anyway the more I type the more I think of, even ones who have not posted in a while or moved on....in a nutshell the people in this place have been great and I hope our hosts keep the boards running!
Congrats on the 2K and thanks for the chance!!
