Whining Wednsdays Week # 2

Ok im gonna start off this week at # 1 .

Im royally ticked off at Whitman's old style 2.99 specials. I found 1 of my 2 lost lincoln books and I thought oh good i can transfer them into my new book and all would be well. Would you believe that the backs of the coins got blue and green and marks all over the back. and what didnt have those colors all over them had those color chunks i guess youd say in the lettering. If this is any indication Its gonna be a lost cause when i find my other books other lincoln my jeffy and roosevelt coins.

Thanks to the cheap books they ruined my coins in them. You get what you pay for I guess and really it cost me most of my S minted coins from 1941-1974. I fear to see what the 1909-1940 will look like and I know in that one is a XF to AU 1909VDB. Oooh im so mad right now

P.S. I cant find my coins from 6 yrs ago in my room. Im thinking either I hid them well or some "friend" walked off with them. when you know good things go bust on you.

what is the backing of the old blue whitmans made out of? how harmful are they since they turned my coins blue green and even tan.

Round duece, eh? Good then, I've got a rather ridiculous story to whine about.

After spending 12 hours at the office last night, then driving home from Sterling, VA, to Columbia, MD (about 50 miles), my normal commute, I arrived home a little tired but still asked the fiance if she wanted to go out to dinner. She said no because she was going to bake chicken, so I assumed it was okay to spend a little time on the couch then. I fired up the second girlfriend, my XBOX 360, and started to play a few rounds of Call of Duty 4. She glances over from the kitchen and flips out, saying things about me not packing, not helping out with this whole moving situation, etc. We're not moving out till next week and all that's left to pack are some clothing odds and ends. An argument ensues, she eventually goes to the bedroom and slams the door. I shrug it off and start reading to pass some time and let her cool off. Hours later she was still being a you-know-what towards me so I decided that I'm not going to deal with this tonight, so I grabbed a few pillows and camped out on the sofa all night. The little time off was quite nice though, caught a few episodes of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air before falling asleep.

To be young and in love...

Well I have to replace the starter solenoid on my car for the third time. Every couple of years it fails and always in the same highly entertaining way - the car will start when cold but once it is warmed up, the solenoid won't crank. I'm supposed to pick my daughter up after a class this evening, and I'm either going to have to leave the car running on a city street while I run in to get her, or go all the way home and backtrack in my wife's car. It also means I'll be on the train for a couple of days later this week while it gets repaired.

I'm enraged that The Man is supposedly going to announce an across-the-board 10% compensation cut on Friday. image

Similar to Longacre's 10% cut I recently had to fire my assistant and take 5% pay cut effective march 23rd and running until at Least October 1st-

All of the operations managers in our stores took 5% cut and all corporate personnel took a 10% pay cut.

what really burns my britches is all the gold bugs on the PM forum whining about
inflation when they refuse to open their eyes and see reality!

    commodities down.
    employee compensation going down.
money being destroyed by losses all over the place.
    etc...

    argh!

It is insane- We cut payroll through cutbacks, terminations, etc etc- Trimmed 5K from weekly payroll but added 5 more to the unemployment % and my place if actually profitable. Some of our other stores in DC, Chicago and Atlanta are losing as much as 50K a week right now... operating on skeleton staffs.... We are going to have to consolidate in order to survive IMHO

    eBay, non-coin, seller scammed me.

    dispute filed.

but went from 100% to this (61.5%) in less than a week, yet the account is still open and "dispute is still waiting on seller's response."

    .......................1 month 6 months 12 months

Positive................25.........27..............76 (one is a mistake that should be a negative)
    Neutral...................2...........2................2
    Negative..............64.........64...............64

I know there are "procedures" but in this case couldn't there be a procedure after a couple of business days to close the persons account, refund the money, and call the police? 10 days wait? Comments are saying they don't respond to e-mails and if eBay checks their system, this would be proven true. 10 days is way too much time in an obvious one like this.

and I forgot to mention said scammer was buying stuff with our money while we were posting negative feedback and sending e-mails. Additionally, our money seemed to fund a laptop purchase.

Quit whinning about your 10% pay cuts. My business cut in half last year, and is half that again this year...soon I will have to fire myself (how will Mrs. W take that? or Walmart?)and I have a broken foot that I just had surgery on...going on 9 weeks in a cast with at least five more to come.

I don't really have anything to complain about though.image

I just do not understand why in the heck my local coin dealer closes his doors at 5:00pm on a weekday! I can't recall how many times I've driven to that shop only to arrive at 5:10pm to see that friggin' Iron Gate pulled across the store windows with all the lights out! I've cursed that man on more than one occasion! image

Worse yet, I just do not understand why I cannot remember that he DOES close at 5:00pm and yet continually start that 15 minute drive at 4:55pm! image
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

i agree with this. it is really tough for a person to get to a coin store when they work
a regular job. It is like Saturday or nothing.. and often Sat in my area means limited hours
to boot. Open later and close early.

AIG employees taking 165 million in retaining bonuses. The ceo says if they don't get them (bonus) they will leave the company. And, the ceo says, if they leave the company may collapse........I say let them go, and replace them from the pool of laid off financial people. image

Lazy news reporters who create a frenzy around a story that they have no clue about. How many elected officials should give their compensation back?
