266,000 Proofs and only 115,000 Uncs. Still over 100K may be too many to command a permium in the secondary market. It seems there's always greater demand for the Proofs. So, I ordered two of each.

Most people prefer the proofs, but I've always liked the look of the Uncs better. I don't care for the "satin finish" so much however, I think the standard "unc" finish can be gorgeous with nice mint bloom you lose with the satins.

kept one for a curiosity that needed to be returned. It has a black spot on it, some shiny areas that should be frosty, but also a struck through on the obverse at 12 o'clock

Could some one post a generic example or two of a "struck through". In other words, what is a "struck through"? I could see a brown spot at 6 o'clock the way the coin is currently displayed. Thanks!

So it looks like these will sell out soon and prices on eBay will go up a little, but what do you think the prices will eventually level out at for the average MS69 and PR69?? I can't imagine them ever exceeding the prices of the MS64-MS65 1918 Commemoratives $200-$400 or so. The classic had a mintage of 100,058 and is much much nicer in design... Would anyone (other than a flipper or an MS70/PR70 collector) pay more for the 2009 than the 1918???

Looks to me like the uncirculated is a clear winner here. Why is the proof in so much more demand when the amount minted is so much higher?
