<< <i>Advice to the bearer of the coin: Flip it on eBay in a one-day auction and you may well receive five figures. >>
you know i would put it on e-bay too, and put some crazy $$$$
i list it for $7500.00 and say its the first of first strikes !!!!
then buy another one.
if you do, i love to know the outcome

Is there any separate announcement of the "tri-vue" slab available for other non-UHR submissions?
You win the jackpot!
Congrats Charlie!!!
<< <i>If you put it on ebay put in a link to that article. >>
i wasn't kidding i would put it up for 7500 and link it ...
i bet you would get it !!!
You are right.
It will take a few days to get back to me.
Thank you.
Charlie.

Congratulations ... be sure you cut out the PCGS Article or have PCGS mail you a copy. That alone, if you ever decide to sell the coin, is worth a ton.

charlie take that trip you always wanted to...
Also, out of curiousity, how does PCGS give it a 70 if it's the only one they've seen??? What are they comparing to?
Michael Kittle Rare Coins --- 1908-S Indian Head Cent Grading Set --- No. 1 1909 Mint Set --- Kittlecoins on Facebook --- Long Beach Table 700
Regardless, it is a beautiful piece and congratulations to you, Charlie.
When he balks and counter offers with $120k, you are in Fat City!!!
<< <i>I agree that this is cool... but to those of you quote prices of $7500-$10000, are you willing to pay this?? not sure who would be... seems crazy... not trying to spoil the party, but let's get real.

are you kidding.... i had a guy pay me 92.00 for a 2008 silver proof set , uh hey buddy there still on the mint web site
<< <i>Too bad they didn't think to add to the label that this was the first piece they had certified and graded. That might have meant something meaningful. >>
they would never cross that bridge, yet the owner does have the link and the grade with the certification number.
congrats!

My unsolicited and un-professional advice is, unless you are emotionally tied to it, sell fast. Once the masses start shipping first strike and MS70 will not be rare. I made a score grade wise on a coin once... paid $1.80 for it, plus modern grading fee, and sold it for $4,000. It was not worth that to me. I would rather have a nice worn flowing hair buck than a modern one.
if so, I may sell.
that's not even enough for a good kitchen remodel, is it?
or does PCGS acknowledge the USM issue with shipping and delay the start of the 30 day window for FS?
as we can see, obviously the one coin certified had an order number later than most and in the 12:45-1pm timeframe (based on whats been posted on the forum by it's owner) there are probably several thousand coins that would have been shipped prior to this piece if the USM conformed to it's FIFO method.....
so how does PCGS handle this one?
But Charlie - obviously this was a major score for you......take your profits.....
Ever Onward
I hear what everyone is telling you about flipping it. If it's all about money then do it! I don't know what it would go for...probably less than 5 digits. Whatever, it would be a handsome profit. If it were mine I'd probably hang onto it. I agree it isn't the smartest move financially but that is one special coin!
It's too bad there can't be a better way to authenticate its special nature. "First of first", some certificate from PCGS, etc. Definitely get that web page printed in high quality fashion and have it mounted and lacquered or framed.
Congrats. I'm very jealous.
Lance.
P. S. Did you tell us how you managed to be so far ahead of everyone else? I must have missed the thread.
<< <i>Ship date for the one coin known was the 6th, so does the 30 day clock start then.....

Obviously the Mint did not adhere to their FIFO. How many others here do you see who have received their coins? (Most with earlier order times). The FS clock has been running since the 6th. Shipping delays do not enter into the formula.

This will hurt the PCGS bottom line. Less fees for "First Strikes"due fewer UHR's meeting the PCGS stated deadline due to Mint stupidity. But I admire PCGS for sticking to there guns.
<< <i>"I am sure it would hit at least $5,000 " >>
The very first couple of "First Strike" Reverse Proof Silver Eagle MS70s went for that! This is an ounce of .9999 AU!
it in 37 posts, anyway congrats.
Hey Charlie.. You suck..
Had to edit my last comment. Sorry Charlie.
It will always be the documented "FIRST" "First Strike" MS70 UHR and that is pretty special in itself.
