I'm not even showing these as having released from the US mint yet. I have a subscription to these and I have'nt heard anything from the mint from them. Also, the date on the coin does not look like 2009.
Are you sure this is a 2009? I don't show these have been released from the US Mint yet. Thanks!
Response: Dear bsshog40,
It is a proof coin meaning it has not been released for circulation, only for sale to collectors.

I then emailed again (no response yet): Dear pdprodigy,
I understand and I know all about the SAE's. But this coin is leading people to believe that it is a 2009 Proof Eagle when these have not been released from the US Mint yet. These haven't even started production.
There is not a "200*" proof ASE worth that sort of money. Years 2000 through 2008? All go cheap. Especially raw or low grade. (or am I incorrect in this assumption, that the 200x proofs are not the expensive ones)
Someone really must have thought this is a 2009, then. That's the only thing I can think of that explains the final bid.

i emailed him twice also and asked him where he got the coin. he gave the same evasive answers to me.
Read the text. Bullion brilliant uncirculated coins.
The one that sold today does not have the word "proof" in the title, but the rest of the auction is unambiguous. That was a huge ripoff.
The two that are currently running are confusing mishmashes. Perhaps the seller thinks this will prevent them from getting a SNAD?
This person has read my threads on eBay photography, especially part 4. How to avoid a SNAD with an ambiguous listing. Joke is on him; the techniques used in my threads do not actually work.
<< <i>Anybody know how to alert ebay to a scammer at work? >>
eBay doesn't care as long as the scammer pays his bills on time. Nothing will happen until the buyers launch negs at him. eBay might suspend him from selling, and since he's not a Power Seller™, they might even think of suspending his account.

Finally got this answer:
Dear bsshog40,
I see but why are you telling me?
My reply:
Dear pdprodigy,
Because you are getting bids on a coin that unknowledgeable people are bidding a lot of money on. The proof that you are selling 2006?? actually sells for around $40. I'm just letting you know that this will probably come back to bite you! Just a concerned collector!
I had this seller email me again today. I'm trying to figure out if he just has no knowledge or what. I would'nt presume he would email me after the auction closed unless he may really not know what he is doing or selling. He wrote: Dear bsshog40,
I don't understand, if this coin is a fake, how can there be NGC graded 2009 Uncirculated SAEs?
- pdprodigy
My response: Dear pdprodigy,
My friend, the only 2009 Silver eagles that have been minted that are available to the public, via dealers, from the US Mint are the Uncirculated Bullion Eagles. They have no mintmark which means they were minted at the Philadelphia mint. There are 2 other types that are the Uncirculated "W" mint and the Proof Version "W" mint. The coin you are showing is a proof version. The 2009 "W" mint versions of the Uncirculated and Proof version have not started production (not minted yet) from the US Mint. I hope this helps you.

Well yeah... but... if you turn the 6 upside down it's a 9
Maybe the buyer can get it slabbed with a new label "Before it's Struck" or "Not Struck Yet"
I can't imagine the price of a" Not Struck Yet" PF70

If we can't even buy them from the mint now, no way he's got any 2009 proofs.

This auction does not say proof, and it is very ambiguous

Waste of time, Clawdia. They don't have the personnel or the desire to do anything about it. Plus, they can't just take our word for it.
