I also saw Robbie last year in Toronto, at a card show. He signed a few items for me. He didn't look like he was 'Withering Away'.... Yeah, he looked very healthy and happy! Sure didn't have'purple skin', nor was he 'foaming at the mouth'!........ GAWD!!!
<< <i>Gotta love national reporting. Article quickly mentions that he is infamous for spitting in the face of an umpire. No mention of the fact that he was a 15 time all star. >>
Yeah... Go figure eh! A$$holes!
Or... the fact that he won 10 Gold Glove awards and 2 WS titles... the list goes on!
No matter what they say, or is true about Robbie, he will always be one of the best 2nd basemen to ever play the game!

I think when someone who has or may have AIDS has spit in the face of someone, it's newsworthy. >>
From the Daily News....
"HIV has never been transmitted through saliva, however, and last night Hirschbeck said he had no concerns about his safety - or hard feelings from their on-field run-in."
The reporter is just trying to kick Robbie in the nuts when he is already down... Bit of a 'low-blow' (excuse the pun) if you ask me!
So Robbie did not deny having AIDS in his statement.
This woman sounds like a money grubbing hizzore who put herself in this situation. If she gave in to peer pressure to not use a condom that is on her. I don't think he intentionally set out to give her AIDS, if he had I don't think he would have lived with her for 3 years. If Robbie was mad at the world and wanted to spread AIDS I do not think he would have trouble finding women to take home every single night. If he was purple and foaming at the mouth and she could not figure out something was wrong then she may need professional help. I am sure he kicked her out of his house and she is just trying to get back at him with a frivolous suit knowing the details would be released to ESPN. Thus she put the Mexican rape, the ED and all of that in there. Robbie should just have some of the guys from North Jersey fit this tramp for some custom concrete shoes.
I believe Robbie does have AIDS, but I don't think it was as bad as this whore-zilla makes it out to be. I don't think he got it from being raped at age 17 by two Mexicans.....
I heard an interesting theory on Dallas Sports talk radio this morning. Filling in for Norm Hitzges from 10-12 was FSN anchor John Radigan and Mike Bacsik. Bacsik (who gave up Bonds 755 HR) was traded with Robbie from Cleveland to the Mets after the 01 season. Remember the rumor that came out about that time that Piazza was gay, which he publicly denied? Bacsik stated this morning that the actual rumor was someone in the Mets clubhouse was gay -- not Piazza. What if that person was Robbie Alomar? Then it wouldn't be a stretch he got AIDS from gay sex (yes I know you can get it from straight sex). Didn't Hirschbeck call him a derogatory word for a homosexual that really set him off and ultimately led him to spitting on the ump?
Just throwing things out there....
I don't think we'll ever know the answer to this question.
Steve it is generally a test within 6 months of the negative test. Sometimes the virus lays dormant for a short time and you will not test positive until about 6 months after exposure.
Question: How long after a possible exposure should I wait to get tested for HIV?
Answer: The tests commonly used to detect HIV infection actually look for antibodies produced by your body to fight HIV. Most people will develop detectable antibodies within 3 months after infection, the average being 25 days. In rare cases, it can take up to 6 months. For this reason, the CDC currently recommends testing 6 months after the last possible exposure (unprotected vaginal, anal, or oral sex or sharing needles). It would be extremely rare to take longer than 6 months to develop detectable antibodies. It is important, during the 6 months between exposure and the test, to protect yourself and others from further possible exposures to HIV.
Question: If I test HIV negative, does that mean that my partner is HIV negative also?
Answer: No. Your HIV test result reveals only your HIV status. Your negative test result does not tell you whether your partner has HIV. HIV is not necessarily transmitted every time there is an exposure. Therefore, your taking an HIV test should not be seen as a method to find out if your partner is infected.

My former boss and I had supper with him while at the All-Star Game in 1992 in San Diego. We flew in his brother Sandy to sign autographs at our baseball card shop when he was a rookie. Over the years, we kept in contact with Sandy when he’d come to Kansas City for a series. So when we were at the All-Star Game, we called the hotel where the players were staying and asked to speak with Sandy to wish him luck. They sent our call through, but it went to Roberto’s room. He answered and we told him our history with Sandy. He said he was out on the town somewhere. But he said he and a buddy were headed out for supper and asked if we wanted to join them. He said after that we could go play mini-golf. That was an easy decision. I think the restaurant was the Black Angus or something like that.
He was very nice at first, but my dumb boss at the time went on about how outrageous autograph signing fees were. That got under Robby’s skin and we could tell that she had pissed him off when we didn’t get that invite to mini-golf. He did pay for the meal, signed a few items and posed for a picture. Turns out his “friend” was his agent.

HIV can lay dormant or go undetected.
I'm not sure but I remember reading a few years back that 5% of those that
tested negative later tested positive.
Not sure if the testing is 100% accurate now.
