New Lincoln Reverse in 2010
From the Mint Web Site
At the conclusion of the 2009 Lincoln Bicentennial One-Cent Program, the 2010 (and beyond) one-cent coin will feature a reverse design that will be emblematic of President Lincoln's preservation of the United States of America as a single and united country.
You can tell your grand kids you remember when all the Lincolns in circulation were memorials!

<< <i>I'm wondering why I haven't seen multi-page newspaper ads imploring people to get the Last Ever Lincoln Memorial Pennies [sic], painstakingly packaged in a Collectible Keepsake Ballistic Bank Brick Box™ never before and never again to be made, and sealed with a Wax Seal of the Federal Moneraty Numismatic Vault Mint Exchange Treasury™. FREE, plus nominal shipping, handling, vault fee, fuel surcharge, union dues, collision damage waiver, and stupid tax totalling three easy payments of $149.99. >>

Next week I'll wake up at 2am, flip on the tube and watch the guys at HSNShopNBQVCCounCountryVault blabbering about MS67 First strikes in a P&D set in a presentation box for $69.95.
In 2010 a 'design emblematic of Lincoln holding together the Union' will be used.
WHAT could THAT be?
Its a tough question, even as a civil war buff/history type person...I cant come up with a decent idea. i think the trying to make every coin design have a message should be set aside sometime. Id like to see some type of wreath, and the essential info text as written. The flying eagle cent wreath is nice.
But no they will cobble something up, most likely with a racial message that will be way to politically correct and suck artistically and we will be stuck with some idiotic design until 2059.

Are you serious there?
When was the last time you went into a store, made a cash transaction and DID NOT get pennies back in change?
Did you not roll those up one dreary afternoon, and walk away from the bank with currency of the realm?
What do you want pennies to do afterall? Dance on the table like the Rasinettes?

I'll bet you 100 corroded Zincolns that the U.S. one-cent coin will stop being minted long before 2059.
