High bidders or buyers on ebay. How can you find their contact info.

I noticed back last year ebay put a block on contact buyers that are high bidders on a ebay auction. Is there any backdoor way of finding their contact info? thanks

  • Nothing personal, but why will you not give someone their privacy? I love the new rules. In the old days, when I won a relatively high priced item, I would get overwhelmed with questions and un-desired promotions. Now, when I win a higher priced item, I am no longer bothered by people sticking their nose in my business.

    No.

The EBAY staff made the "EBAY community" safer by blocking this information to everyone except the seller.

So for instance, if a seller's auction with a fake or altered or problem coin, just closed. Other members of the EBAY community are unable to contact and alert the buyer. In fact, the buyer cannot even be identified.

Thank God for the EBAY Trust & Safety team.

I understand you are looking at it from a different angle. But, for those of us that know what we are doing, and do not need others to "save us from ourselves"; The changes are more than welcome. When I buy something, it is not an invitation for scumbacks to show up and give me their worthless speal.

There are still several ways to find out the high bidder on an auction. In fact, I sent a message just a few minutes ago to someone who won a multi-item lot, just in case he doesn't want to keep the one item that I'd be interested in. With luck, he only wants the other pieces. If not, then no big loss for me.

The catch is that I don't know how many of those ways to find out the high bidder were left open by eBay intentionally. So I don't want to describe them publicly and then have eBay close them off.

If anyone needs the details, send me a PM.

Or, you can take it as a challenge to figure them out yourself. You might well find out another way that I don't know about.

(It's pretty obvious that one option is always going to be "ask the seller". If you have a legitimate reason for knowing, I expect that most sellers would be willing to tell you, or willing to forward your email address to the winner. Of course, if your only intent is to get the seller in trouble, that probably wouldn't be the best idea. But then again, if your only intent is to get the seller in trouble, you should probably be looking for better ways to spend you time, anyway...)

I'm sorry some people feel this way. I am not a scum sucker. I see a buyer that buys high end Gold coins and want to chat with him that's all. Again sorry for the question to some.
  • I know they have to protect their interests but I miss the good old days!

Don't you think they would be a little freaked out by some unknown quantity out of no ware who wants to just chat about his new high end purchases that were presumably made in strict confidence ? image

Just PM saintguru....he buys high end gold coins and I am sure he would love to chat with you image

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

One would reasonably think so, wouldn't they?

"Hi! I noticed that you have been buying gold coins for $3000+. I think that's cool. By the way, where do you live? Would it be ok if I came over to see them and we could chat on them? When do you leave for work? "

All you have to do is not respond or tell them to f-off.

I see dozens of people being ripped off on EBay and there is no way to let them know that they are being royally screwed. It's sad to see this.

Yaha and Tavern Treasures: I could have done a better job of wording my previous posts. I did not mean to refer to YOU as scumbags. I understand there are people with ligitamate questions for winners. Unfortunately, when they have access to the winners, so do the scammers. I guess what I was trying to say is I would rather no one have access, if it helps keep the bad ones away.
Again, I appologize for the accidental inference that you were a scumbag.

  • ebay has tightened the system up for self preservation purposes -don't kid yourself that hey had your privacy in mind. It's just a side benefit of their main objective. Limit communication between members so they can keep greasing sellers 15.5% (Paypal included) on the first $50.00 and 6% over that amount.

I have stopped selling lower end stuff on Ebay because it is not worth it anymore and only sell hot commodities (currently buffs) when needed - that's it.

You must not be looking at the FVF for coin auction style.
    00.01 - $25 .... 8.75% of closing value
    $25.01 - $1000 .. 8.75% of the initial $25 ($2.19), plus 3.5% of the remaining closing value balance...

Your quote is for the Clothing, Shoes ... etc.

If he sells stuff use the ask the seller a kwettun feature or try asking the person he won the item from to have him contact you. The worst they can do is to say no.
