While our most common coin is well collected, it suffers from what Rodney Dangerfield always complained of......."I don't get no RESPECT!!"

You all know what I mean there. So now...it is GONE. No More. Nada.

This is one of my favorite Memorials. I aquired it from Toby Leach and his TBL Collection. He had originally aquired the coin from Jaime Hernandez, who we all know at PCGS.

Are there any clear front runners for collectible Memorials?
I mean the Wheaties have the 1909S VDB, the 1914D, 1922, 1931S and the 1955 Double Die.

I would say that there are a few. Off the top of my head I would go with 72 dd, 83 dd, 84 dd, 95 dd, 92 close am, 98 wide am, 99 wide am, 2000 wide am. They are mostly double dies and such. Oh and for type2 I'll throw in the 1960 d sm DD. If I forgot any please forgive me guys!!

1960 proof, small over large date
1960 proof, large over small date
1969-S doubled die obverse
1970-S proof doubled die obverse
1970-S small date, uncirculated and proof
1981-S proof type 2 mintmark
1990 proof no mintmark

The 1960 small date is a semi-key, estimates in the early 1960's were that around 2 million uncirculated and 100k proof were made and nearly all were saved.

The scarcest date/mintmark might be the 2008-S proof provided the final mintage is around 2.3 million.

My best by far coin find, pulled from circulation rollpicking back in the day when these were first discovered.

Had it for all these years, and recently had it slabbed, made MS63RB, because of a fingerprint that was ON the coin when I discovered it.

agreed. Odd thing about roosies (for me anyway) is I always thought it looked more like Truman than Roosevelt.

This is the very famous 2003 "7-11" variety Lincoln Memorial cent.

Notice the subtle toning of the modified design and placement of the designer's initials. Some call this an R-8 or even R-9 coin! I'm certain it will soon be offered to collectors via ebay special auction. Should bring at least six figures! (OK---so all six figures will be "zero"....still a great coin with quite a story to tell! Think of all the pockets it's been in, of all the Slurpee juice, of all the cholera bacteria and viruses attached to this lovely specimen. Might even include a bonus of Ebola or worse!)

2006 satin finish MS70RD Bought this a few years ago from Tazmic, and the Pop of the 70RDs has remained at 40 (+1 for that bstrikeonandgone)

The thing I really notice about it is the total pan flat of the fields and the crispness around the lettering. There are other 70's out there...but if the home team chooses to designate/insure themselves up to that grade, I dont think the pop will increase at all ever.

Very Cool, a Lincoln Memorial thread with very little modern bashing. As most folks around here already know, I like the Memorial design very much, and have collected them for quite a while now. Nice pics everybody. If I had access to my set, I'd post a pic or two, but we're away from home for the next several months and they are safely tucked away in the bank safe deposit box. Oh well, post some more pics folks.
