OK can't have it all, so it has a freckle... as long as it's not ED eating into the surface it's not a issue.

Very well struck for a type 2 SLQ -
it doesn't have the luster to tip it
    to MS 64FH.

    Nice coin, regardless.

    Here's mine - now in a PCGS 64FH holder [ EX: NGC 65 FH ]

...sorry the images are from the seller and not very good.

Can you describe the reeding? Also, on the shield, is there a thin line perpendicular to the others and right at the end of the other lines? Is there the suggestion of a nail on Liberty's right thumb?

Great looking coin, even with the spot.
SLQs are really underappreciated by most collectors.
Must be the difficulty in obtaining pre-1925s that look like your '17-S.
I place mine as my 2nd or 3rd favorite set.
When I started collecting, I only dreamed of owning a 1916.
Now I have two, a MS61 and one to sell someday.

    I completely agree.
IMO, SLQs can only gain in popularity as time goes on. I used to think that one date was enough as a type representation, but I soon realized that I was and still am, an SLQ ADDICT.
    And there is no cure.
Naturally, we all prefer the fully struck examples, but I am comfortable with a decent strike, showing adequate head and shield detail.

It's a date that I have been chasing for some time!

There was a strong full head that I looked at for a month or so but the shields lower 4 rivets where missing (common) and the top of the 4 digits in the date where weak (also common)... so I passed.

Just for kicks I offered up a more common duplicate as a trade option and was offered a incredibly strong trade credit ( Had to read the email 3 times to make sure it was right ) that just made this one a walk in the park to pick up.

The spot doesn't bother me as this example has a lot of positive attributes IMHO.

There's some post 1925 dates that are tough too 26-D/S, 27-S, 28-D, 29-D... also softly struck in general.
