I bought this at a small little shop and the flip said "priceless" in old faded writing.
I couldn't pass it up for $20 bucks.

Numismatic abuse is compelling in a weird sort of way, like watching S&M porn or a fatal car wreck. Looks like it might have been carried around as a pocket piece after the deed was done.

It's just a catchy thread title with a birdshot looking pattern semi-drilled into a decent looking flying eagle cent.

The holes aren't really holes, but more like dimples. At least that's what it looks like to me.

looks like the person that made it was doing it from the rev, they avoided the wreath.

Also looks like a different pattern on both sides, the holes don't go all the way through?

I've got an 1878-S Morgan with B1 reverse that was in a fire. I'll give ya a hellfire of a deal. About 5 times what that holey F.E. cost ya.

OK I almost had a heart attack here.....I have very very slow internet connection at my hotel room and this pictures slowly started forming from the top to bottom. It took a while to get the whole image and all this time I was thinking OMG its a going to be a 56, no it cant be a 56. No way....and sure enough after a few minutes it was not, I was relieved.

if it were shot from close range, the coin would have been destroyed
if from a distance, to have some scatter, the pellets would not penetrate IMO
also see that nothing damaged the date or united states of america

I agree with Stubby about someone having fun for one cent. I'm not sure that a punch was used because there isn't any bulge marks on the other side to match the indentation.

Did any one see the 1877 Indian cent that sold on ebay last year that had almost holes drilled around the inside of the obv?
