The only way I could tell is to compare it to one that you know is real! Like a Graded one just like it.

This one arrived this week from a consigner and I'm afraid I'm going to have to give him the bad news. . .

The weight is good and it is coin silver (90%), but still...

Like a child? No, no debasement today.

How long has the consigner had the coin? It's really not all that deceptive - is the owner a collector or inheritor?

Is it stamped made in china on the edge??

No, it's just crudely made. Look at the dentils from 4 to 6 o'clock. Uneven, not spaced correctly.
Miss Libs profile, face and nose is all wrong.
raised bumps under her forearm indicate casting bubbles.
Hand holding olive branch is poorly done.

Hmmmm, then again it might be real.

It's the overall bumpiness and granularity that would tip me off. I'll give it this, it's better than most I've seen.

Is the consignor a small child?

the mint makes coins by pressing a small metal disk between 2 dies - because of this, the flat part (field) should be very flat and smooth not pitted, rough or porous

the mint starts with a larger model and reduces it to coin size with a pantograph -> the letters (font) are a uniform size and placement

all coins of the series pretty much look the same - it is not like a painting

this coin was not made by the US Mint

Once upon a time, there were two piece of s**t c***s*****g Chinese counterfeiter f***s named Fang and Wang. One day, little Fang and little Wang wanted to rip off a coin collector. They saw that people pay good money for coins called Trraaade Doolllllaaarrss. They decided that if they could make Trade Dollars, they could make enough money to keep themselves and their flea-ridden crack-whore sl*t girlfriends well clothed, fed, and doped up for a looooonnnggg time. They didn't care if they were caught, because their government is run by f*****g Communists with no respect for anyone but their maggot infested selves. So Fang and Wang started to make a trade dollar. Being a couple of d**bf**k s**th**ds, they didn't do a very good job. Look at aaaalllll the mistakes they made:

    - Weak, irregular denticles on the obverse.
    - Pitting from a bad casting under the right arm.
    - No detail in the recessed areas of the obverse
    - Messy, retooled denticles on the lower reverse.
    - Generally mushy details, especially on the obverse.

Since the Chicom d**ksm**ks didn't do anything to punish them, Fang and Wang thought nothing of it and continued making trade dollars. But one day, a man named Jack Bauer showed up at their door. He bought a trade dollar and was not happy. He wanted to punish Fang and Wang. Fang answered the door, and Jack wanted to know where Wang and his equipment were. Fang didn't want to tell him. That was a mistake. It made Jack angrier. The first thing Jack did was immobilize Fang. That made Fang scream a little. Then Jack took the trade dollar he bought, shoved it up Fang's nose, and clipped a wire to it. He clipped another wire to Fang's genitalia. Then he connected the wires to a biiiiggg car battery. It made Fang move in funny ways. Poor Fang. It also made him say where Wang was. Jack was happy to see Wang. Wang was not happy to see Jack. He tried to run away, but tripped over a machine called a puunncch prrrressssss. Jack wanted to know who Wang was working for. He likes to ask that kind of question. Wang wouldn't tell him. Jack wanted to see how the punch press worked. Maybe it would be more effective than punching Wang himself. He put Wang's right hand in the punch press and punched each finger, one at a time. It made Wang scream even louder than Fang, but it didn't make him move as funny, so he tried the other hand. That didn't work, either. Jack found the dies used to make the trade dollars. They were big, heavy pieces of metal. He also found an anneeeaaaallling fuurrrrnace. He put the dies into the furnace until they were so hot they were orange! Then he tore down Wang's pants and shoved one die up his a**. It made Wang scream aaaannnddd move funny. Poor Wang. Jack decided they weren't worth his trouble anymore, so he damaged all the equipment in the room and left, but not before taking the $20 he paid for the coin out of Wang's wallet.

    The End

NOW BE QUIET AND GO TO SLEEP!

I honestly would be very careful when posting something on this thread. The consignor in question could be very upset, and anything we say can be used against us.
To base authenticity based on mere observations of a photograph is for the most part purely conjecture in my opinion.

I have the strange feeling that the OP is somewhat passing the buck. The coin is either authentic, or it is not, and I am not necessarily sure that the OP knows either. The best recourse at this time in my opinion is to have the coin sent back to the consignor with an opinion that the authenticity cannot be determined at this time and that such determination should be made my certain experts.
