Another pleasant Ebay surprise!

Seems like a few people have been buying raw pieces on Ebay thinking they are getting an AU grade coin to find that it is a nice MS coin when it arrives...

Well, here is another! I'm thrilled with this one. Paid 90 bucks for it. Woohoo!!!

This piece of sweetness is easily 64 if not 65! Booyah!!!

I posted a thread about this a few days ago right here. It looks like the 9 is over an 8. So 1901/18. But, most people say that's not possible... So I dunno!

I mentioned this before, but since you constantly hear about how there's nothing but cr@p on eBay, I'm going to post about it again. My brother bought an 1897-O Morgan a couple of months ago for $32 and had it sent to NGC for slabbing. It came back MS62.

As to your question of getting a variety attributed on a PCGS holder. They only do Cherry Picker varieties, and this will not be one of them.

Still a nice pickup.

Eh, it's hard to tell what PCGS will do. BUT, here is a slabbed PCGS MS65. Side by side, this 1901 may be a bit better.

I will just keep my fingers crossed.

A coin without luster usually indicates that the coin has been cleaned, or may have been in circulation a very short time (AU). In the original photos, it has no luster. Good detail, but no luster. Had it actually been this way in hand, it would have been graded AU - if at all. It may come back in a body bag if it's cleaned.

However, MY photos capture the cartwheel luster that the coin actually has. That luster makes a huge difference in grade. A jump from AU (if not bodybagged) to MS62+. In this case, MS64+.

I'm not sure about other series coins, but that cartwheel luster makes ALL the difference.

Those "better images" just let me add a $280 coin to my collection for under $100. Again, luster is a major key in the grade.
