Value help please

I am going to the Harmerville coin show tomorrow and have some PCGS moderns to sell/trade . Looked them up on the PCGS price guide .. what should I expect a dealer to pay (if they want them) in reference to this guide ?

You can expect to get a heck of a lot less than the PCGS price guide numbers.

I don't know what you have, but when I was buying PR-69 moderns for my type set, I PAID from $10 to $25 a piece for them with the average coming out at around $15 a throw. That's about half to 25% of the retail prices that are posted in Coin Prices magazine.

The dealers obviously paid less than that for the coins UNLESS they was selling them as the rejects that didn't make PR-70. I'm pretty sure that the dealers from whom I purchased these coins were not in that position.

Bottom line: The buy prices for many of these coins are less than the slabbing fees.

Do a "completed Items" search for each one on ebay and you'll know exactly what they are worth

moderns as in sms cam or dcam?1964 sms?cheerios sackies?1990 no s lincoln?1992-d close am?

some moderns are tasy and some are pretty sour ...what you got could help in search of input

I would sell them another way unless you have no choice/alternative. The coins I have sold, I have always made more on my own than by selling to a dealer. In fact, my most recent experience was a set of BU Mercury dimes. A dealer made me a ridiculous offer for the whole bit. I sold them on my own and made over 4 times what they offered me, but it was alot of effort on my part, but well worth it! They are in it to make money, so they buy low and sell high. You will get a much fairer price from another collector or even on Ebay.

I have some pr69 washingtons from the 60's ..1999 state silver quarters .. some susan B's .. ike . I just wanted extra funds for the show and I'm not ready to part with some of my better stuff

I sold a couple of 2008 ASE's with the 07 reverse at a show. They were going for around $500 on eBay at the time. I got $325 and $350 from the dealers and had to work at it... As others have said, I think you're probably going to be better off going with eBay or the BST.

At a small show, I would expect most dealers won't many offer on PCGS slabbed ultramoderns. If they do offer, I would guess about melt value (about 8x face value, maybe 10x if they feel generous). There might be the odd small show with a dealer that stocks those coins, but most dealers are not going to be interested. The PCGS guide won't help any, when selling that kind of material to dealers.

There are a few guys who deals in moderns on this board who should be able to direct you to the highest buyers. Whoever they are, I would not expect to find them at a small show.

Unfortunately the show is tomorrow so the BST is out of the question ... my favorite saying is todays moderns are tomorrows classics (maybe) I will save them for my son before I give them away ... and this being said two local dealers already turned them all down .. not intrested
