2008 Kennedy Halves Dropped on USM Website ... That's All Folks !!

The USM website offers only bags/rolls of 2009 Kennedy Half Dollars as of noon today. What was already a very low mintage 2008 P/D Half Dollars did not sell out so some of the 1.7 M P/D may never see daylight !! Comments....

I got mine!!! Still sealed in mint boxes. The will command a premium in the next few months.. but what do I know. Money under the mattress.

My guess is that if they didn't sell out, they will return. The 2001s did. But still, this is a record low mintage. It will be interesting if they ever "do" anything. The problem, of course, is that almost all of them will be saved, making them much more abundant than if they had been released into circulation.

Correct jessewvu, but remember, none of the 1970 D 2.15M Kennedy Halves were ever put into circulation. Only available in 1970 Mint Sets !! These low mintage popular 2008 P/D halves will need awhile to show their value. Nice to get in at the previous USM price !! Comments....

The 2001's didn;t return until late 2002 or 2003 and this was only because they made 40 million of the coins.

The 2002 - 2007's may not have sold out but have never been offered again.

There are also at least 733,000 more P's and D's in the 2008 mint sets. Even though many collectors consider these "satin finish" coins to be distinct from the regular uncirculated coins, many others don't care, and will happily fill the slots in their albums with the mint set coins.

When I called the USM ordering line yesterday, 1/22/09, the lady said that product "2D9" (P/D BU 2008 half rolls) was no longer available. Go figure !!

The mint is not trying very hard to sell the remaining 2008 sets.
At the mints' site I can't find the link that coasterfan has in his thread.

So I search for his thread when I want to see if the sets have sold out yet.

I didn't order any sets. I just found the link in another coin-related forum and posted it here for anyone who was interested. It looks like the link still works fine and the 2008 halves are still available.

Most recent sales figures show around 3500 2 roll sets remaining.
New numbers out Thursday.

Will be interesting to see how well they are selling with no help from the mint.

A few days ago, a USM ordering lady said that the USM product "2D9" was approx. 7,000 lefton hand. Today, I called the USM and they said that the item was history. That is what they are saying............... Comments.

I just placed an order Monday evening for the 2-roll sets. Don't know if I'll get them, but the order went through.

Someone find out if the 2009 mintage is more or less than the 2008. Inquiring minds want to know!
