Put me on the list of people who are not rich and are not having a tough time. My wife works part time, I have two kids and make under $100,00 K a year combined. Last time I looked that is not rich and we are doing fine. Too be honest, I have a very secure job given the current economic climate. I chose job security over higher salary jobs in my field and it seems to be paying off so far. The value of my home is stable. Granted my 401K has taken a kick in the pants, but I plan on working 25 more years, so I will make it up.
I am a positive thinker too and believe we will pull out of this. That is what makes Americans great. I just count my blessings and try to limit worrying about what I can't control. Granted that is sometimes hard to do.
So I send the guy a pm asking for scans and payment info. and he replies that it looks like a waste of time, lol. Guess he didn't really want to sell them or he doesn't have them. Either way, he's full of sh*t because I was gonna pay $17,000 for the lot. I guess he didn't think I had the money, lol. I spent more than that on Christmas gifts.
Im 35 and I dont really care for mantle.Maybe if I grew up while he played that would be different. He was the boyhood hero of many of todays older collectors and since most of those collectors didnt keep their collections they want them back. Its great to have a card that you had when you were a kid.For my generation it was the likes of boggs sandberg puckett mattingly etc. Those are the cards that have value to me.People like to relive their childhood thats why people will spend insane amounts of money on Mantle cards.
This unbelievable downturn has effected almost everyone in the United States in the form of lower home values. Even the highest price homes are dropping at staggering rates. My boss lives in a 1 1/2 million dollar home that he's hoping to get $700,000 for
It would just make sense that most card values will wane in the next few years. I think that the hardest hit area's will be mid-grade star/common cards.

Merry Christmas everyone!

pm sent. I don't know if I can go that high since the world is about to end though.
