FINDS TODAY IN HALF-DOLLAR ROLLS AT THE LOCAL BANK!! - - WINNERS ANNOUNCED IN "LAST" POS

DBSTrader2DBSTrader2 Posts: 3,541 ✭✭✭✭

CONTEST OVER!! WINNERS IN WHAT IS CURRENTLY THE LAST POST!!

Well, after reading all the recent posts from folks who have gotten a few rolls of halves from their banks full of 40%, 90%, Franklins, & Walkers, I decided to ask if there were any rolls available at my local bank - - the one which never seems to have any of the new State Quarter or Presidential Dollar rolls on order..............

I was with my son & explained what kinds of finds one could come up with by searching halves rolls, and, as luck would have it, the bank actually had 4 older, hand-wrapped rolls available!

I jumped on them & brought them home for us to search thru, and we found............................................

...................Guess the results!!

Average Grade of all Halves searched = ????

Most Common Date/Mintmark Found = ????

# clad JFK's = ????

# 40% Silver JFK's = ????

# 90% Silver JFK's = ????

# Franklins = ????

# Walkers = ????

# Barbers = ????

Random drawing to be held among all who post guesses here, with the winner getting one of the coins which qualifies as "Most Common Date/Mintmark Found" - - in a quality he or she should be VERY pleased with!!

Results & drawing by Sunday, Dec 21.

just a quick note to "tightbudget".................... remember that there are 80 halves in 4 $10 rolls....... did you mean to imply I found 40 of the 80 as copper-clad 1971D's in VF, or all $40 worth?

I have a feeling this is going to be one of those you suck threads when you post the great stuff you found!

I'm guessing you got 4 rolls of franklins!

Well if the winner will be very pleased with the coin give away I will venture to guess that all 4 rolls were JFK64's MS62.

BTW I went through 25 rolls today and found.......................................NADAimage

...not that I would believe this.

Ok.................. it's 8:30pm Sat here, which I guess is close enough to Sunday for me to end the suspense................

only a very small number of people came even close to guessing the distribution correctly....................

......... while most people guessed closer that the halves I found in the rolls rated among the higher grades for average condition.................................

keepdachange was thrown a bit by my choice of wording that ".... the winner will be very pleased with the coin give-away...", whereas I really stated that the giveaway coin would be "in a QUALITY he or she should be VERY pleased with!!"

Nothing worse than a lousy coin in lousy condition!!........................

Which brings me to my official results and declaration of a winner................................ AND "special runner-up/consolation prize winner"..........................................

Let me just say that I WISH my finds were as good as others lately on this Forum, as well as most everyone's guesses! And, Halfhunter06.......... I'm SURE you could blow away what I found!imageimage

because on this day, it looks like I got "skunked" by another collector, who must have gone thru a bag of halves from the Mint looking for coins to slab & wrapped the rest.........................

    ........official results:

Average Grade of all Halves searched = MS62??

Most Common Date/Mintmark Found = 1990P (66 out of the 80 coins!!! - - fresh as the day they were made by the mint!!)

    # clad JFK's = 80

    # 40% Silver JFK's = 0

    # 90% Silver JFK's = 0

    # Franklins = 0

    # Walkers = 0

    # Barbers = 0

So, with his guess of 72 clad, 6 40%, and 2 90%, the winner of a VERY NICE example of the most common date coin (1990P) is.....

    rbf !!!!

Congrats!! Shoot me your addy, and the coin will be on its way!

And a special prize of another such half goes out to: keepdachange, to console him for coming up with NADA in his own search of 25 rolls yesterday.................. image

Oh, well. At least I have a guaranteed replacement for my existing 1990P halves in my & my sons' Whitman folders, even if I did otherwise come up empty-handed in the silver & amazing-find categories. There's always tomorrow!!image

    Thanks for playing!
