Explain this one SGC defenders

I frequent the net54 board occassionally and love reading the PSA bashing threads from the SGC defenders. Just got this card in the mail today. Was part of a lot from eBay and basically paid nothing for it so not mad about it. Came with three rather low pop PSA 10 Maddux cards for $17. Someone tell me how this card still landed in a SGC 98 GEM holder with this centering not to mention chipping on right back border.

The image must be centered on the card within a tolerance not to exceed approximately 55/45 to 60/40 percent on the front, and 75/25 percent on the reverse.
Yes, there is some chipping on the reverse, but nothing worse than I've seen on my share of PSA 10's.
I'm not going to bash or protect either side, but I really am growing tired of the us versus them and them versus us attitude, especially when points that are made are factually INCORRECT!
Thanks,

<< <i>SGC guidelines make no mention in regards to the card back. You could email for a full explanation. >>
Not true. From SGC's website:
Centering: Tolerances are allowed for centering but must be within 5% of the standard and should not detract from the overall eye-appeal of the card. Back centering is less critical than front centering and a tolerance of upto 10% in excess of the front standard is allowed.
I should know. I wrote the SGC standards for publication around 1998 or 1999...
<< <i>I'm still unsure why people, especially those that know as much as some on these boards, are still so lost when it comes to what is acceptable for a GEM MINT card. Have you folks reviewed the standards for back centering? Directly from PSA's description:

I have to agree.
By the way, I have seen PSA 10s with the same issues. All of the "big 3" grading companies have strong and weak points, when it comes to card grading. Buy the card, not the holder, no matter if it's PSA, SGC, or BGS.
no problems here.

To use a common phrase that was used in the grading room, supplating the overused "eye appeal" copout, the card is "market acceptable" in that holder and in that condition.
Buy the card.....and the holder.
Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

If your comment was at me, it was uncalled for. I was just using their scans as examples, and have no relationship with them in any way.

Don't post anything negative about SGC over at Net54 - they'll have a heart attack.

Especially since a number of the "regulars" over there were bammed from CU. LOL

That sure sounds like fun. think I may do that.
I am starting to think that maybe the centering on the back is one of the allowances that varies from set to set and year to year.

It is likely you will get a reply or ten, or get called out as a troll and asked not to post any longer. Either way it makes neither board look any better.

"Didnt you get your answer on the PSA boards??? Seems you are just trying to stir up trouble as this back centering issue was addressed already on the PSA boards."
EDIT TO ADD: Worth a try.
"I can possibly understand people who troll video game message boards or music message boards...that can often be chalked up to the special brand of obnoxiousness the users have in their teenage years.
Trolling a baseball card board, however, takes a special brand of loser - the Edsel of trolls, as it were."
You shall ever be called the edsel of Trolls.

Can't wait to get to 10000 posts here so I can change my title to Edsel.

looks pretty much like the rest of the 10s
Its MINT (common for new stuff, so pay accordingly
New stuff come here, old stuff go there, dont compare
Mistakes happen. Yes, even at PSA. To suggest otherwise is laughable.
