<< <i>Come on guys, get a life and get over fleaBay. I stopped selling there in June. I am done with it. >>

Everyone is entitled to do what they want of course, but this mentality is pretty silly. The reason so many people freak out over eBay and Paypal is because they read these horror stories, but think about it, we can't possibly post every time we have a normal, positive transaction. There are literally thousands of great transactions for every bad one. That's a risk I'm willing to take. eBay is still the best venue for selling your collectibles for the highest price to the largest audience in my opinion. Again, if you hate it, that's fine, move on, but to tell the people who still use it and, unfortunately, occasionally run into a problem to "get a life" is a rather stupid and unnecessary thing to do.

Positive BST transactions with: too many names to list! 36 at last count.

Okay, instead of outing the buyer here, why not simply post the ebay transaction ID here. Oops, forgot that the winners ID is shielded now too.

Not certain why I am commenting further. But I will. Ignore the buyer. He is a nitwit. You will not be consummating the auction with this person. Simply advise where they can send postage to cover the return of the lg cents. Oh, did you ever look to see if the buyer made the large cents a condition of the best offer?

    UPDATE:

I got ebay on the phone with the help of another board member (thanks J) and here is what I was told,

This is one of the most bizarre things the operator has ever heard. He said " I have heard a lot of weird stuff before but this one is right up there"

He made a low first offer which I rejected for $125, he then offered the $225. He was invoiced the same day as the sale. He is claiming in his dispute that he made the terms of the offer cash and a trade. I do not recall this nor does it show up that way. He did ask to make a trade on another coin earlier and responded to him that accept checks and paypal. On this one he just sent coins ( and not even the right amount based on his screwy prices).

Ebay instructed me to send the coins back and reinvoice him. If he does not pay it will be treated as such. They also told me he has filed a false non receipt claim and that could be a problem for his as was not honest in filing out the forms. Finally they told me not to worry about feedback as I should have no trouble in getting it removed.

I wanted to get ebay on the phone before I posted the details so he they are right from the ebay offer email:

    1864 S Seated Dime VF/XF
    Offer price:$225.00
    Buy It Now price:$250.00
    Offer expires:Nov-17-08 07:53:00 PST
    Buyer user id:goldmineri

I would highly recommend blocking this guy!

Glad things worked out and thanks for the name for blocking. So how did you finally get someone from Ebay on the phone and how many attempts did it take to actually talk to a person? For the prices Ebay and Paypal charge, I think it is beyond belief the poor level of customer service they provide.

The guy had perfect FB and never left a neg until Dec 2nd 2008.
About the same time he started bugging you. A sign of going off the deep end. image

    Check feedbacks left with toolhaus.

the guy has been on ebay since Jan 2000 and has feedback of 89 and 73 are in the last year.

It seems he wants to collect Seated coins. I don't think I would recommend him dealing with anyone I know.

  • << <i>This is funny but i may be in real trouble.

I checked paypal only on my auctions and i had 3 different people ask if i will take another form of payment. I replied sure, cash, check, money order, cashiers checks, goats, pigs, cows and chickens.

I am waiting on 2 payments now, wonder what i am about to recieve in the mail.image >>

You may literally end up getting someone's goat, unlike this sale in which the buyer has gotten seateddime's.

Everyone should ask this guy a quesiton about taking trades...bug the *&^*&^ out of him.

You read his feedback he looks stellar, as the comment on the neg he left says "that's the problem with e-bay feedback"

    seateddime:

Do you have any idea what the above means? Jump through more ebay hoops, paying additional $$'s to have the neg removed. Done it and paid the price, back a couple of years ago. Then it was $20 to an intermediary who you could not respond to once your intial information was sent. No further correspondence was accepted, it was a one time offering of your side of the story. So have pics/documentation available if you go this route.

Don't remember exactly who does it for ebay, but I'm certain they're under the ebay reign of terror. Its almost as though if your side of the story has any credibility, and you're willing to pay the $$'s, they'll remove the neg.

Just my experience. By the way, the intermediary granted me a coin which was returned to me, unopened, refused by the buyer, according to USPS. They also granted me his $800 paypal payment. Not at all what I anticipated, nor what I requested. Just wanted the neg removed. The buyer later filed dispute to have his credit card recoup charge. The intermediary somehow disallowed the credit card dispute as well. Wound up with the original coin & the buyer's money. Think about it. The decision was unjust at best. Depends on what side of the bed the reviewer got up on. I offered to refund the buyer's money (less the shipping/insurance,) in my original submission to the "third party." They decided otherwise and banned the buyer from ebay.

the joke is he will keep 100% feedback unless a buyer gives him a neg, a seller can't do it.

What are the odds of someone winning his sale and then offering to pay him in trade?

This is why buyers who see 100% feedback are not safe, a 9 year old account not really used until this year, lots of low purchaes and you would say this is good seller.

This whack job has the same lot being offered twice, once as a buy it now and then as a bid with a reserve.

    On one sale he writes:

    Morgan,LG&Sm cent,Stg&Wkg Lib,Franks & Kenn.collection
READ Description!! I'll add more coins until sold!!

How do you add more until it is sold? How do you know what you are buying? Does this mean if the auction verison does not bring enough you will take some coins away?
