My 1934 Peace dollar and your thoughts

I've owned this lightly circulated 1934 Philadelphia Peace dollar for almost three decades. I knew right away that is was cleaned, polished or both.
Big deal right? Well, indulge me for a moment.
Based on my observations, the detail is unusually sharp for this or any other low relief Peace dollar date. Perhaps the recessed toning accentuates the detail a bit, but still, a relatively sharp example, don't you agree?
I did a quick scan of both obverse and reverse.

Banged up, pocket carried and all original including those reverse black marks.
Nice look for a circulated Peace, I like it.

Edited to add, I don't see the cleaning and what's that little squiggle in her hair? Is that]
a strike through thread or wire?

    Thanks, I like it too.
In hand the coin has a very smooth, almost glossy surface that appears unnatural to me. I could be wrong.
Not sure about the squiggle but probably as struck.

A Peace dollar fresh from new dies will normally have a smooth, satin-like surface but with a “hard, metallic” appearance and almost no luster.

New hubs were introduced in 1934.

    This might help for comparison:

The OP coin has more "character" than this one. I was just posting it for detail comparison, since this one is definitely not an early strike from a new die.
  • The coin in the OP is a neat piece. I like the look.

RWB's is very attractive. I like the look lots!

Yes, I see what you mean. Very cool 1922 you have there.

Nice coin RWB. So, what is the story with that hair squiggle on the OPs coin? Kinda neat.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally

    I knew it would happen.
  • RWB is more qualified to comment on this than me. But Chaze's 1922 is from different hubs than any pictures of proofs that I have seen.

A bagmark. Not that neat if you ask me.
