1915-D Circulated Lincoln...What Would You Call It?

Had off today and decided to explore a new B&M around the homestead. A very decent place with a nice selection of circulated material although very few slabs.

I asked to look through the circulated Lincoln book 09 - 33 and was impressed by the dealers grading skills, overall quality of circ material and fair prices. I will be back.

Bought this 1915-D as I found it to be pretty clean and eye appealing circulated example? Do you agree?

I call it VF-35, what say you? (I'll reveal what the dealer graded it later)

I would call it a very nice EF40 or 45 (for eye appeal).

Lincoln's aren't my specialty, but....obv looks EF and rev looks solid VF. I think 35 is a fair grade for this very appealing coin.

Guessing the dealer had her as a 45.

I'm thinking VF35 maybe XF40. Real close I think. I like the chocolate brown Lincolns very much. Great eye appeal image

Gotta love Brown Copper. image Nice example that looks 35/40 range.
  • Right on the VF35/EF40 line. Worth EF40 money for the eye appeal.

35/40 is exactly how it was labeled by the dealer.
It will fit very nicely in my 1909 through 1933 circulated collection.

To the gentleman that asked, I paid $9.50 for the 1915-D. Bought a couple other
circs and a copy of coin world for a grand total of $20. A good day in my book.image

Strong hair detail and good separation of jaw and cheek make it an XF to me.

I'd frequent that dealer's shop...not often you see a conservative (or even accurate) grade for raw coins in a coin shop.

An honest dealer with nice coins. At $9.50, you got a good deal.
