Try not to have the price and therefore the rarity issue influence your decision (such as an ms65 Chain large cent or Early Bust dollars).
Mine has got to be the Seated Liberty Design.
I think the half dollar is a perfect size for this design, specifically Variety 4.

I've seen a few of these pieces, and they are striking.
In general I'd say the Draped Bust coinage, even in a grade as low as AU can be quite stunning when the coin is well struck. Here's an example.
