Do you think the Mods here keep track of the "Guess the Grade" responses?

I've been wondering lately if the mods are secretly checking, and maybe keeping track of, the responses of us forum members in the "Guess the Grade" threads.

Just wondering if this would be a way to recruit graders for their company, or some other means.
Does anyone know if someone here has been asked by PCGS to become a coin grader for them because of this or a similar instance?

BTW- I have not yet been contacted by PCGS or any other TPG to become a coin grader, and I don't know if I would want to image

  • Grading by photo is a lot different than grading a coin in hand, so I doubt it.

I think they have better things to do. And you can't grade from a photo it is just fun to guess.

No, but I have wondered if bagging on PCGS somehow can hurt my submissions. In other words, do they flag us for " payback ? "

No. Anyone who'd guess the grade of a coin from a picture doesn't deserve a job with a reputable company. image

They might glance in once in a while to get an idea of what collectors think since they do "market grade".

Well, we've all heard the story about how M. C. Hammer, as a child, was picked out of the parking lot by the Oakland A's owner to be the bat boy.

Why would you have expected that? The President is supposed to have answers, not just questions.

Given the restrictions (bad pictures, different computer monitors settings, etc.,) plus the fact that any given coin is graded with no less than three grades, sometimes a 20 point spread, I can not see why they would even bother.

Gription's candidate certainly has the eye(s) for it. He would have to get a haircut or use a hairnet before being allowed in the grading room, however.image

Probably not, but I wouldn't be surprised if some dealers do. It becomes very obvious who can't grade. image

  • No way. The graders sometimes check out the threads but other than that the grade this posts arent used for recruitment. PCGS laid off graders....they wont be hiring anyone for a while.

No, but it would be cool to have a running competition between all the people who participate in the guess the grade posts.
