i never do,been subbing for years, put em in cardsavers and forget it,mine are all taped at the top and smushed ina pile with cardboard on top and bottom, not shifting anywhere by the time im done, i just did a sub of 20 52 topps autos logged today , no way im giving someone more trouble by adding another obstactle getting the card out of the cardsaver
I'm pretty convinced that you are simply giving me a hard time at this point. I have some high grade (projected PSA 7-9) cards from the 50's. They need to be shipped in a secure way without risking damage. What type of penny sleave should I use and how can I get it?
look on ebay, i dunno, im not sure what size they are for the oversized ones, yeah im just messing with ya -notin the least if you wanna buy pennysavers i still have no idea what the pennysavers for the 50s are called or #ered though? somebody on here should- you brian? guess not, he cut and run

Ryan,
I would pass on the penny sleeve and just use the cardsaver. My opinion is not PSA's opinion, but I believe the risk from potentially dinging corners or something would be greater by utilizing a penny sleeve then by the risk of just shipping them in cardsavers. I detest penny sleeves. My two pence would be to just put the card in a cardsaver, pack it correctly, and be done with it.
Though I provided the link, I too believe the use of a penny sleeve is just asking for trouble...mostly in getting the sleeved card into the card saver. If you must, try sandwiching the card (already in the penny sleeve) between 2 pieces of thin cardboard and slide the sandwhich into the card saver...then just remove the cardboard when it is in place.
edit to add: First, I spelled penny, "peeny"...second, if you go through the trouble of getting the cards in penny sleeves first, it will make removing the cards easier for the grader.
I do suggest snipping the corner of the penny sleeves first, for easier insertion of the card into the sleeve without as many snagged edges and corners.
I should have used them when I sent in my last order, the one where Mr. 10 thumbs ruined a bunch of my 55 year old cards.

Steve, this is an ongoing problem that psa is having right now. The grader is handling them fine, it's the slabber slamming cards down in the slabs on the corners. This is the reason PSA won't be getting another penny from me till the problem is addressed. Even PSA cards on ebay, I won't buy them unless there is a big scan where I can make out the corners. In fact, I know of two cards on Ebay right now with smashed corners in PSA 10 slabs.
I emailed Joe about the issue. Not sure if anything has been done though.
I think no matter what he is going to find the penny sleeves and use them regardless of what anyone says. That is until he nicks a corner trying to insert the card into the penny sleeve that is
ive played the penny saver game too long, it dont add nothing for protection, just more damage ryan, listen to these people, they know what they are talking about, 9/2 , ya lost
The grader is handling them fine, it's the slabber slamming cards down in the slabs on the corners.
I had problems from both, I had some 7's and 8's slabbed with the corner flipped up and I had cards creased when they were taken out of the holders before grading, how else would they have graded 3 and 4?
I went through those cards with a magnifying glass NONE were creased/wrinkled.
come to wv, ill give you rub of snuff, and a pennysaver, and a half a can of warm beer, mght be a fly in it, hes free too ross it the us version of the trequila worm
A fly or two never hurt anyone....but the worm, even with that alcohol bath, never could go there. I do remember how to eat fried worms, but I think I missed the uncooked children book version.
Clear Skies, Mark
(By the way, according to that Judy Bloom book, you eat fried worms with ketchup.)
Collecting PSA graded Steve Young, Marcus Allen, Bret Saberhagen and 1980s Topps Cards. Raw: Tony Gonzalez (low #'d cards, and especially 1/1's) and Steve Young.

Ah, that's even worse. All the cards I am referring too are modern graded 10's. Which puts the blame on the slabber being that the card is now really an 8 or 9
I wouldn't have asked the question if I didn't intend the use the advice given. I am going put in a Card Saver 1. Maybe I don't need to cross my fingers this time.

Good, it really is your best option- I cant tell you how easy it is to ding a corner putting cards into the penny sleeves, card savers are great and offer very good protection. Best of luck with your sub!
Once you have them in the card savers, make stacks of about 25, cut 2 pieces of cardboard to slightly larger than the size of a semi-rigid and make a sandwich, and then just use a rubber band in each direction to hold it together. I think this is the safest possible way of sending in cards
It sounds like some people like to tape them up like they're sending a package of marijuana and trying to get it past drug sniffing dogs, but the easier they are to open when they arrive, the less chance they are going to be damaged.
BTW, you can ignore the part about using stickers on the card savers as well - just use a black Sharpie and write the order number and line number on the back of each card saver.
Okay, what's some advice for sending in Hostess panels that I don't have toploaders/cardsavers for? Will PSA grade them if I put them between 2 pieces of cardboard and write the submission number on the back of the cardboard??
I lost count, but add another NO for pennysleeves. I think you risk chipping the edges and corners when using those things. I just even have any just so I don't slip cards into them for time being.

Yeah sure, no problems. Other than the fact that the slabbers smash your corners because you don't follow the rules!

I think the use of a penny saver would allow for the card to come out
of the card saver easier. At least that is what I think.

Not sure where you can get 50's sized penny savers though.

I paid seven bucks for the two can special!
Guess it's time to give up the Copenhagen.
Have a hundred dollar Chantix prescription I have yet to open.
Screw the penny sleeves. Just another way to ding corners and scrape edges.
Although someone on these boards mentioned that they cut the corners on the sleeves to reduce the possibility of damage to the card.
