Free Seated Half Dollar book

Bill Bugert posted a link on the Seated Half Dollar forum to the online Seated Half Dollar book.
The 1993 book is out of print, and runs at least 300 clams if you're lucky enough to find one.
I think everyone should thank Bill Bugert here for doing this.

Our thanks to Bill and those that made this possible.

This book has been impossible to locate and selling for $300+ when sold. This is a major advancement for the Seated Half Dollar variety collector.

I am pretty sure I have this book. I think it was 10 bucks. I will need to check when I get home.

Just a great gift to the numismatic community and seated fans.

Thank you, I have been trying to find a book for about 2 years now. And had all but given up.

Great stuff... I've been without my copy since moving 4 yrs ago and unfortunately it was in a box of assorted books which were "lost" by the moving company. Thanks for posting the link lathmach.

I firmly believe in numismatics as the world's greatest hobby, but recognize that this is a luxury and without collectors, we can all spend/melt our collections/inventories.

Thanks to Bill Bugert and Randy Wiley for making this happen! Believe it or not, I expect the book to still be in significant demand on the secondary market. I recently sold one at Richmond and could have sold 3 more.

  • A true heartfelt thanks to Randy and Bill from all of us here at David Lawrence, as well.

It's huge gift to give away your painstaking research but we discussed the costs of reprinting this book which are prohibitive and these guys really just want to get this information out to collectors. We've developed Stella Coin News to publish our house blogs, as well as any books we can. If you've published a book, written any articles, etc. please let me know via email (sorry, I don't get PM's) and I will post them on Stella for you, and for the community at large.

The other amazing thing about this software is it gives the author(s) ability to augment the information with new data. Randy Wiley and Bill Bugert have told me in the past that they have volumes of additional information on Seated halves and I sure hope they add to what's online. As readers, you can post your own comments to any of the pages as well, for others to see.

  • p.s. we also already posted my father's book called "Tales From the Bourse". If you haven't read it, it's really a bunch of (dare I say it) cute stories from his early days in the coin business. link

p.p.s. stay tuned... we are working to publish ALL the other DLRC Press titles from the "Complete Guide Series" that are now scarce and out of print: (Barber Dimes, Quarters, Halves, Walkers, Mercury Dimes, Buffalo Nickels, etc) This will be a huge benefit to the coin community.

I agree - in some ways books are easier to use than websites. Diehard collectors will still want a copy of the book, while someone interested in just attributing a single coin can use the website.

Thank you indeed. What an invaluable reference! I bought 2 1842 SHs over the week-end and they came yesterday. One is a WB-102 and the other a WB-106. Very hard to see in the Ebay sellers pictures, but clear as day when you have a great reference tool...thanks again
