In Honor Of Veteran's Day
Post a coin appropriate for the day in appreciation of all veterans . I was going to post the Tuskegee Airmen Medal, but it has been so long since I was active on here I have forgotten how to post a picture.
For all you veteran's on the Board, Thank You.

...and at 53, I'd do it all over again for my country. Oh, and it wasn't fun, but it did offer "esprit de corps", something we seem to lack in civilian society.

I'll never forget the day that we all went to the local army base PX, where they still shopped every so often. Seeing that guard at the gate "Snap to Attention and Salute "Good Morning Sir!" Wow..........
When he passed on, letter of condolence came from Prince Philip, Omar Bradley, Curtis LeMay and Richard Nixon.
That old man walking the bassett hound had some powerful friends.
My dad during the Guadalcanal campaign at Henderson Field.

When I had the coin image, I had very few comments. With the following, I have gotten a lot of comments....generally from partners from countries other than the US.
Just about each time, they read it and then ask "are you really proud of America?" (not in a sarcastic way either). I answer "Yes, I really am. Problems?". Each time, I hear back "Not at all, that is a good thing".
Makes me feel good and they have a better understanding of my passion, which translates into how I work.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Friends and family that have made the ultimate sacrifice for our country and kept our great country free, WE THANK YOU!!.
To the brothers, sisters, fathers, cousins, nieces, nephews, uncles, grandparents. I could not be more proud of all of them and their stories, I miss hearing them told around the holidays or family gatherings.

He was getting old and paunchy, and his hair was falling fast.
And he sat around the Legion telling stories of his past.
Of a war that he had fought in and the deeds that he had done,
In his exploits with his buddies -- they were heroes, every one.
And though sometimes to his neighbors, his tales became a joke,
All his Legion buddies listened, for they knew whereof he spoke.
But we'll hear his tales no longer, for the old man passed away,
And the world's a little poorer, for a soldier died today.
He was just a common soldier, and his ranks are growing thin,
But his presence should remind us we may need his like again.
For when countries are in conflict, then we find the soldier's part
Is to clean up all the troubles that others often start.
If we cannot give him honor, while he's here to hear the praise,
Then at least let's give him homage, at the ending of his days.
Perhaps a simple notice in a paper that would say,
"Our Country is in mourning, 'cause a Soldier passed away."

Day is done
Gone the sun
From the lakes
From the hills
From the sky
All is well,
safely rest.
God is nigh.
Fading light
Dims the sight
And a star
Gems the sky,
Gleaning bright
From afar,
Drawing nigh,
Falls the night.
Thanks and praise,
For our days,
Neath the sun,
Neath the stars,
Neath the sky,
As we go,
This we know,
God is nigh.

May 1945 saw my Dad among a smiling group of Yanks and Brits just liberated from a German P.O.W. camp.
My Dad was shot down in '44 on his final mission. He lived to 87 and always had a hard time getting through November 11th.
