It's possible when the news hit a big player or two decided to buy up the remaining inventory. If so, we'll see them offered soon at a premium with lots of hype. --jerry

I just placed an order for one 1/10, 1/4 and 1/2 oz Buff proofs. They loaded in my cart fine and I submitted the order. When I checked the order status, it showed

"Your order request has been shipped."

But on the item line for each item, it showed "item is no longer available"

Confusing??? Yup, but I have learned to expect it from the Mint...

When an item is cancelled because it is no longer available, you get the "shipped" notice, the computer is telling you that they've shipped everything they're gonna ship. this confirms the OP. --jerry

All I know is I got my 4 coin set and could not be happier. The box is one of the best display's I have ever seen from the mint. Top notch high quality stuff.

The Buffalo and Plats going dark could be from a major buyer stepping in or it might just be the US Mint closing the door on those with full return option prior to change on the 15th where ALL SALES ARE FINAL!

I agree, perhaps there was confusion at the mint this morning. However, I think that anyone that wants any of these would be better off to order now rather than wait. Something tells me these are going to be huge winners.

    I like them a lot!

I have a theory on this. First the mint held back a certain amount of remaining stock for the sale period and when this point was reached current orders were halted. The mint then seing a chance to make more money released some of the stock that was originally held for the sale to be sold now. If that is true then the amount of discounted gold will be thin and go fast on the 15th.

If anyone is hoping for lower bullion prices they may have a long wait, like till next year. I think the mint has to post prices in the Federal register to do it and won't.

Well, I just went the circuitous route and purchased a 1/2 oz. Unc W Buff on the Bay for $450 after my 25% Cashback rebate. I was able to order a pair of 1/4 oz Uncs on the mint website minutes ago. My order from earlier this morning still shows "Items not available" so I'm taking no chances.

I placed a couple of orders for the buffaloes about and hour ago and just checked my AMEX and there is already a hold on it, so they are in stock right now, but certainly not for long.

Does anyone know what the mintage limits, if any, are for the fractional Buffs? I seem to recall they would be minted to demand more or less - is that correct?
  • Options
No mintage limit on the Buffalo Fractionals. Thats why the play here is on the FS PRDCAM70's and MS 70's.

Except I believe that there was the article stating that they would strike out only the blanks they had on the fractionals...

have board members confirmed no longer available even though no "signs are up"?

On Monday, I placed an order at 1:45 PM Eastern time for a Buffalo Proof 4-coin set and a BU 1/4-oz. Buffalo....My account states "Request on Hold" and that both orders are "In Stock and Reserved". Later that evening, at 10:11 PM, I ordered a Buffalo BU 4-coin set and my account reads the same as for the earlier order....."Request on Hold" "In Stock and Reserved". Now, whether any of that means anything remains to be seen. It would appear, however, that the coins are still in stock.

When gold gets down to around $500 or so, I'll buy these around melt, I think.

So that means you think the dollar will stay stong and won't fall as fast as it rose. Boy I'd hate to be youimage

Gold is at near highs in most countries with their currencies.
