It seems many auction houses are sending coins to IGC these day, how do the values compare and why are they doing this?

Nothing against IGC but it would seem PCGS ANACS or even NGC is a better option for a raw coin.

Well let me tell you this. I don't care what anyone states about ICG being less of the other 2 Ngc and Pcgs. They are doing a fine job. I have had many coins taking more than 30 days on a 12 day submission. It's called early bird. But as some grades I get I disagree with I bought the coin of hoping my grading skills were up to par. But my coin is protected in a slab and I have had no problems with those milk spots issues that some have from the other top TPG.

I think what you are asking why? Bulk contract prices and care and time getting it right.

I haven't noticed that trend, but where a coin is sent for grading is ultimately decided by the coinsignor and not the auction company.

On CCE there are some fairly high bids placed on ICG graded coins. Perhaps those bids can be considered as the "safety net" for ICG coins.

Best thing to do is research the auction prices realized of the coins you are interested in. Teletrade has quite a few ICG coins in its archives. For some coins the price differences aren't that wide, for others it might be a ten times price differential.

/ edit to add: as to why, I think ICG has done some promotions to coincide with its change in staff (the swap with the old ANACS staff), and that has stimulated some submissions.

Perhaps a better chance at getting a 70? I personally will buy a sight unseen coin slabbed by PCGS, I will not do the same with an ICG rated coin.

Heritage used to send all their problem coins to ANACS for years under a bulk deal. I would assume with the change in ownership at ANACS they decided to stop doing that discounted price and Heritage went elsewhere. Remember, ICG never graded problem coins until March of this year and then Heritage started sending coins in.

I know more than this but since I worked at ICG during the time I don't feel like it should be posted on a public forum without either side getting mad. What I said is true and a synopsis of what happened.

Did that happen? I thought the ICG folks took over ANACs and moved it, how would that result in ANACs staff going to ICG?

I'm not saying it didn't happen, just wondering how or why?

There seems to be a lot of ICG Bust series coins up for auction currently that look to be overgraded coins with visible problems. Too bad, I used to like ICG.
