NEW pics by mgoodm3 of a 1855 Large Flying Eagle Judd 168 Pattern

In the Old Thread this example was sent to RKKay to play with for his studies of LFE Patterns.
It was sent out for SEM-EDX testing of the metallurgy composition, and was Tru-View'd while at PCGS being reslabed after testing.
The test results are now on the slab insert which is neat and it cam back as the following... yes a touch of Silver!
92% Copper
6.1% Tin
0.8% Zinc
0.8% SILVER
Here's mgoodm3 images... Enjoy!
P.S. RKKay was a joy to work with and I never really felt the need to have to call in SWAT!

<< <i>Those are fabulous pictures of an awesome coin. How many of those are known to exist? >>
Thanks it's a R4 Pattern which would be 76-200 known.
<< <i>Pretty coin, maybe I will keep it.
I wasn't expecting it back till Easter... if you want to rent it for a while PM me about the lease terms!

<< <i>Hopefully RKKay will jump into this thread as after the SEM-EDX testing I've been pondering if it could actually be a J-167
Not a J-167, as it would have to be [almost] pure copper. However, your LFE raises two issues I've been pondering:
1) If J-168 is ideally 95% Cu, 4% Sn and 1% Zn, assuming the margin for error is within appropriate parameters, is 92% Cu and 6% Sn still J-168? What about 91% Cu and 7% Sn? 90% Cu and 8% Sn?
2) Does the mere presence of silver require a new Judd number? How much would have to be present before requiring a new Judd number? 0.4%? 1%? 2%?
These and many other questions are why I'm still testing. I've tested over 70 coins and still am very perplexed. There are also a lot of die-related issues to figure out. In any event, I suspect some new Judd numbers will be coming.
Edited to add: I'm sorry you never sent SWAT.
