A small group of four collectors, two pros and one renowned author will be perusing and fondling the treasures in the coin vault on Friday.
This was arranged by a dealer on behalf of the 20Th Century Gold Club and it should be awesome!
Do they do cavity searches?

Sounds like a lot of fun Jay
I did buy a 1793 1c if you can recall, Grump.
New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

Not usually, but if you beg, I'm sure they'll try to accommodate you.

If you can, take pics of the vault and some of the stuff you get to see.
<< <i>They had a great coin display about 20 years ago last time I was there.

public pics of the vault? probably not a gimmie.
Be sure to take pictures, but not pictures where you are holding priceless national treasures in a careless or haphazard way for comedic effect.

The Coin Vault?
Have fun, and say hello to Robert Chambers for us.
–John Adams, 1826
I was born in the MD suburbs of D.C., and I used to party alot downtown in the 60's and early 70's. I've only been back a few times in the last 30 years. I don't know if it is still there, but if you find memorabilia interesting, you might want to check out Matt Kane's restaurant/pub near 14th & M. Their walls were covered with autographed photos of VIP's from politics, sports, media, embassies, etc. It is kind of like the "Who's Who of Guestbooks".

After your done with the rarities cabinet be sure to check out the early proof gold which is located in drawers by chronological order.
The various quarter eagle and half eagle proofs are truly memorable. The 1825 and 1829 half eagles are unforgettable.
I am sure you will have a great time.......... try not to drop the half unions on the vault floor.

<< <i>It will only be a memorable trip if you can get a video of flipping a national treasure in the air, for who picks up the lunch tab. >>
Yeah, but you'd likely go to jail for tossing Bush around.

Yes? No! Yes, what?
You know, they really should have better sense than to call it an "approval" poll.
